baby’s quilt

i finally decided what to do with all the fabric i got for the boy’s bedding. i eliminated a couple fabrics, but obviously, i still have a lot! i had a few strips of fabric that were only 3 1/2 inches wide, so i went with that and cut all the fabrics into 3 1/2 inch wide strips. most of them ended up being random lengths, others i had to trim a bit. i cleared off our dining room table (two folding tables pushed together), and started laying out the strips in a fairly random order, just trying not to lay the same ones right next to each other. it took me about an hour to do this, and i listened to tim and steve’s new “life together conversation“. it was great, totally inspiring, talking about refocusing on the importance of family and time spent together and how the church effects all of this, positively and negatively, plus a lot more. i totally recommend you to all listen to this – it was so encouraging!
i actually didn’t end up sewing at all last night because piecing it all together took much longer than i had expected (always does). but this morning and afternoon i was able to whip it all together. the sewing actually went really fast because i didn’t have to worry about keeping the pieces all lined up – random was good. the size is also random – it ended up being whatever size would fit on my table!
i’m not done. i just got to do all the fun stuff today. i still have to trim some of the edges, decide on the backing, do the backing, then put the front and back together. since none of that sounds fun, i think i’ll start on some pillows for the glider, guest bed, and window seat.

i am hosting a baby shower for a friend here tomorrow night. it should be pretty simple and laid back. gracie and i did the flowers for it today and they turned out really pretty – i’ll post pictures tomorrow.

prego update: i’m 35 weeks along, although today i got a comment from a woman who greatly questioned my ability to make it another five weeks. she thought i was ready to deliver right there. i tried to politely assure her that i actually felt great. so i really do feel great, other than not sleeping well the last few nights and getting a bit more tired carrying around all this weight. i had a dr.’s appointment today. my last check up 2 weeks ago i was so proud of myself because i had only gained a pound. but i must have celebrated that victory too much over the last 2 weeks because i gained 5 lbs!!!! my dr. isn’t too concerned, knowing my history, so that felt a little better. then she asked about contractions. i said i probably have on average about 2 an hour. just simple braxton hicks. but i never had these until right before the girls were born, so its kind of new to me. she said i just had to make it one more week (to 36 weeks) to be in the clear, healthwise, for the baby. she said i may be early because this is my 3rd baby and my body did just do this recently (the whole pregnancy thing). to some this may be good news, thinking the end may be nearer, but not to me! i’m expecting for this boy to be on time or late, so just the thought of having a baby 4, 3, 2, or even one week early is a crazy thought to me. i have a baby shower being thrown for me by some girlfriends in a couple weeks, so i’d really like to go at least past then.

car accident update: finally got the ball rolling a bit today. i have a rental minivan (woohoo!) waiting for me at enterprise which i don’t really need, since we still have my old car. but if that baby comes early, and most likely our car won’t be fixed yet, i’ll need a car that can fit all 3 kids/ carseats. we should be having someone come out within the next 2 days to give an estimate for the car’s repairs, then we can go get it fixed (hopefully).

so long for now!

Wow his quilt looks so neat and unique! I think that’s my favorite part about you making all their bedding is that it is so different from everything else out there – way to go.

You can have little Dennis (hehehe- you owe me, shoulda gone with it when it was feminine, so much more attractive) next week when I am there!
That would be the same time Emilie Erin (your name, your name!!!!)
came, really you don’t want to do that.
BTW- your so creative, the quilt looks fun. What does “little Dennis”
    need?
