time to start the baby’s quilt!

I powered thru today and finished gracie’s quilt – yay for me!!! i’ve put off finishing it for so long, don’t know why, just hasn’t been on the top of my list of things to do. but lately i’ve been getting questions from others wondering how the quilt was going. i guess i just forgot about it for a bit. but not today! i was determined to finish this quilt so i could start on the baby’s quilt. i didn’t really have all that much to do – only a few hours worth of sewing, and the girls were really pretty good about it. i set up the sewing machine in the playroom after lunch and got lily down for a nap. gracie helped me for a bit by handing me pieces of the strips next to the border (see 2nd picture), then lily woke up after only 20 minutes. AAAHHHHH! this girl is killing me with these short naps! anyway, she snapped out of her funk pretty quickly, and the girls played right next to me with only a few minor squabbles. they seem to either love each other or hate each other. when its rough, its really bad, like run-to-break-it-up-before-someone-gets-seriuosly-hurt kind of bad. but when its good, its sooo sweet. like yesterday, we discovered that our sugar snap peas were ready for picking in the backyard, the girls sat back there together, lily on gracie’s lap for about an hour! when i went to check on them the first time, gracie said, “i’m just loving on her, mom”. so precious – it makes me wonder how they could ever have such opposite feelings toward each other when they’re fighting.

here’s a picture i took of gracie yesterday before lily’s nap. gracie has been wanting to be really helpful with things lately, which is so sweet and usually actually is helpful. well yesterday, gracie wanted to put lily down for her nap. this is how i do it: i read her a couple books in the glider while she’s laying her head down then she falls asleep. so i snapped this picture before the craziness began. lily was already so tired, she really wanted only me with her. gracie was hurt that she couldn’t put lily down and threw a fit, which further delayed naptime, blah, blah, blah….. then lily only slept for 30 minutes! so my down time has slowly been stolen away from me lately. maybe God is preparing me for the reality that lies ahead? kinda like getting up a million times at night to pee prepares me for the middle of the night feedings with the babes. so hopefully i will soon be posting some sort of progress on the baby’s quilt. can you even handle the anticipation?!? be prepared – i tend to deliver everything late (even my babies!).

(hey jeannett, maybe there are randomly TWO gibson boys in there and you’re actually having twins…then you wouldn’t have to wait, hehehe…)

So Lisa’s blog says “Lindsey is having an open house on Wednesday.”
Are you having an open house? What does that mean, what do you do, is there food, will you Have a band?
make sure you have a great pic of me out :-)
Emilie is laughing over my shoulder, she wants a great pic of her out too.

While I’d LOVE twins, I think I’d be a bit overwhelmed with two at the same time for my first! And, besides, we’ve only ever heard one heartbeat…ALTHOUGH, that said, one of my co-workers is married to a “surprise twin”…mom pushed one baby boy out and…oops…here comes another one! They had no clue!!! (And for the record, he’s only like 32, so it’s not like this was too long ago!)

    i LOVE that quilt.
do you have a pattern for it (the appliqued flowers, etc.)?
do you sell them? is the fabric a bunch of random fabric, or were the pieces from a kit?
