this & that

my mom just left. it was so great having her here! she is always so helpful, great with the kids, and really fun to be around. i hate having her go, but she’ll be back in a few weeeks when we have the baby – yay!
here’s a fun picture of gracie and i – it’s kinda crazy that her volleyball belly and my prego belly look really similar!

my sister-in-law, michelle, gave me a pedicure as a gift this weekend before my baby shower. it was so nice and she did a great job. as you can see, lily also got a foot soak, gave me a massage, and scraped the calluses off the bottom of her feet! so cute! michelle was also sweet enough to give gracie a mini pedicure, which she loves!

saturday was my baby shower thrown by jill, joy and jen. the brunch was very good – i thought i wouldn’t be all that hungry since i’d had 2 (yes 2!) donuts while we garage saled earlier hat morning, but i went back for seconds, it was so yummy. jill hosted at her house, jen helped with the food and made the cupcakes (thanks also to kate for those!), and joy made the invites and favors (sorry no pics of those). everyone was encouraged to wear blue to the shower – suh a great idea! i really felt blessed at this shower – the food was great, the fellowship was wonderful, i received a bunch of great gits, and my dear friend susie gave an awesome devotion. she based it on a quote by george macdonald: “i want to help you to grow as beautiful as God meant you to be when he thought of you first.” to do this, susie had 3 points: to know yourelf, to know God, and to know your kids. boy, these were all challenging and convicting!

after the shower, my mom and i got a second wind and repainted the baby’s room! here’s a series of before and after pictures. the color is really similar, but a little more green and grayish. it worked out great because i already had the paint for another project so i didn’t need to pay for paint. late last night sean and mom put on the drawer pulls on the built-in dressers. yay! no more blue tape for pulls! left to do in that room: get a queen boxspring and frame for the guest bed, probably paint the changing table (brown? turquiose? both?), get a new lamp for the bedside table (eiffel tower with floral shade is not so masculine!), find a pendant/ chandelier for over the window seat, make a pad for the window seat, finish the baby’s quilt (backside fabric is on its way here). i think that’s it!

so lots of little things going on here. next dr’s appointment is on wednesday, so we’ll see if i’ve got an update for you! have a great day!

hope I’m not imposing to ask but….your house is so cute and I was wondering if you’d share the color on your walls in your living room? It looks much like what I’ve been looking for, but haven’t quite found. Congratulations on your new baby. God bless you.
