thunder & lightning

last night, as i’m sure many of you know, we had a crazy lightning storm. i was laying in bed, nursing the boy with my eyes closed at about midnight. i kept seeing flashes through my eyelids. i’d open my eyes thinking my neighbor was turning his lights on and off. finally i figured out it was lightning (took me quite awhile in my sleep fog). Sean got home shortly after, about 12:30 (he had to work late last night). he took the fussing silas for me for a bit out on the front porch. i joined them after a bit to watch the storm. who knew being up in the middle of the night with a fussing baby could be so much fun?! sean, silas and i sat out on the porch and watched the lightning and the pouring rain. we talked about how much we’d love to have a porch swing (next project, dad?), or maybe a swinging porch bed! after a bit, a teary gracie joined us. poor girl – she was woken up by the thunder and lightning and thought there was a fire outside. when she went into our room we weren’t there (remember, we were out on the porch?). she was sooo scared, but soon calmed down and enjoyed the show with us. after a bit of this, we all headed in for bed, which turned out to be musical beds for the rest of the night. but such a great memory!

We were up too! Thunder and lightning lasted from midnight to 7:30ish this a.m.(in Central Ca. foothills).
Sounds like you made the most of it.

Porch Swing- if you recall I bought 2 old wooden folding chairs for $5, painted’m white, and Michael made them into a swing. They weren’t quiet deep enough, but it was thinking outside the box!

We should have gone up and sat in it under the tree last night. Could’ve made a memory too.
