we went down south this past weekend. it was very last minute, to say the least. we had planned on going down on wednesday, but as of tuesday night sean canceled it because of work stuff. i sent out emails to our friends and family we were hoping to see, to let them know our plans had changed and we wouldn’t be coming down after all. well…. on wednesday sean had some opportunities come up for work down south so at 7:30pm, after the kids were all in bed, he says, “let’s go!”. normally i’d be a little peeved of the last minute-ness of this, but i really wanted to see everyone, so i jumped on it. we were all packed and in the car by 9pm! we hadn’t even called our friends, the damato’s, that we stay with down there to let them know we were coming (i know – we’re such terrible friends! i was mortified to be doing this to them!).
they were very sweet and had our room ready when we got there. the next morning we decided to a quick trip with kim (our hostess!) and her son tyler to disneyland. we call him tyler boy – he was born one month after gracie, so they are very good friends. and sean has known kim and her family i think since birth. they are just like family – we love them so much!
it was a very quick trip that consisted of a few rides, lots of snacks, big sneezes causing snot all over the girls’ shirts (can you see it in the pic? nice!), lily kicking off her flip flops before we even got into the park (as in: “ma’am, she’ll have to put her shoes on before she can go on any rides”. “WHAT?!? she doesn’t have her shoes on?!?”), buying obnoxious-but-still-kinda-cute minnie mouse flip flops, and rushing home.
uncle vito, aunt turkey, and baby isaiah made a cameo appearance at disneyland. they were so sweet to drive all that way from san diego to visit with us for such a short amount of time! thanks guys! and this was isaiah’s first d-land trip!
since sean was working almost the whole time we were down there, i was without a car most of the time. there was a fun park down the street from the damato’s house. can’t you just hear gracie shouting, “WOOHOO!”? so could all the neighbors!
tyler is very advanced in all things athletic, so he was showing gracie how to skateboard on a ramp. he was very sweet and protective with her (he is in the running with a couple other select young men to be chosen as her future husband!).
so it was a crazy trip, frustrating and fun, and we’ll be doing it all again soon. soon, as in this friday! we’re headed back down for more work for sean for the better part of next week! we’re hoping to see more family and friends that we don’t get to connect with as often. i’m really looking forward to it!
