splash party!

saturday we had gracie’s 5th birthday party at our house. it was really fun! this was probably the first party where i felt completely relaxed and was able to just hang out. the weather was perfect, probably about 75-80 degrees, with a very slight breeze. gorgeous!

here’s the cake and cupcakes. they turned out really fun and super easy. the cupcakes were simply frosted then i rolled them in crushed graham cracker crumbs to look like sand, then popped in a paper umbrella. the big cake – the adult cake – was “repurposed” from my surprise party. don’t get grossed out – i took the extra cake home from my party and put it in the freezer, then refrosted it. i put blue frosting around the sides then cut waxed paper in waves, then smushed it into the frosting, then covered the rest in graham cracker crumbs. then to go with the invitations, i topped it off with a pair of new flip flops.

i didn’t really decorate the inside since we spent most of the day outside, but i hung a bunch of 99 cent beach balls from the ceiling.

my baby is almost walking!

thanks goes to grandma for many things: the girls’ new swim suits, cleaning so much, and especially all the work on the “tote-able towels”.

the boy was loving splashing by the pool. i had to keep a good eye on him though, because he almost took a header right in!
we had a super fun balloon toss, which of course turned into a balloon fight!

then we played a the water version of “duck-duck-goose” called “drip-drip-splash”

the birthday girl had a wonderful day. thank you all for her well-wishes!

on a different note: i found my camera! i won’t tell you where it was (in my diaper bag).
