a little change and a little new

i guess old habits are hard to break: when i was younger, if i needed to clean my room, i would rearrange it instead, then clean it, because then i would have the motivation to clean it so i could see my newly designed room all nice and clean. logically, it would make more sense to just clean it then rearrange it, rather then moving the mess all around, but logic doesn’t always win with me.

all this to say, the girls’ room was a disaster. it needed a really good cleaning. so what did i do? closed the door (so the boy could do no serious damage while we were busy) and the 5 of us moved all the furniture around until we (i) were (was) happy. we’ve had this arrangement before, but it just seemed like the best fit for the room. at least for now.

a few months ago lily asked me to make her a special pillow for her room, and this is what i came up with. i love how its ruffly and messy. i hate how its messy and stringy. i usually love the unfinished raggedy look, but in this case its just too stringy. so we pull strings from it all the time. oh well!

also awhile back, i got these 2 bulletin boards at the flea for a couple bucks. i covered them with some *vintage* amy butler fabric i’d been hoarding and put them up next to each of their beds. then each of them chose 5 fabrics for chubby pushpins and have decorated them to their hearts desire. enter the boy. maniac. he has pulled off the push pins, played with them (yes, played with them!) then proceeds to drop them along the wall behind the beds. and i’m just lazy enough that i won’t pull out the beds to get the tacks SO HE COULD JUST GO DO IT AGAIN! so the boards look just like they do in the pictures above. just stretched fabric. lets call it art, shall we?

I love the room! The walls, the everything. Don’t even get me started on the intense jealousy I am holding in considering how much stinking old school Amy Butler fabric I see in there! NOT FAIR!!! Can I be one of your kids?

So cute! Love the beds, love the craziness of the boy…and you mentioned that the FIVE of you re-arranged??? Wow, if I was as furniture-move-happy, Andy would definately leave me to my own devices and only help with thing I would otherwise kill myself moving. :)
