valentine’s day decorations

let’s start off small: a tiny glittered paper heart, tucked away in between 2 love birds (and a starfish i’ve been too lazy to take out since summer!)

kiddo artwork tucked up on the mantle

a great valentine’s piece my mom made for me years ago. i need to re-frame it. you’ll see it exactly the same next ear, though. i guarantee it.

and this birdcage went from this…

to this in a few minutes (thanks mom. again.). we have a ton of these wax paper hearts the girls and i made last year or the year before from this tutorial. very easy, but they are getting a little crumbly over time.

we hung them on the chandelier again.

and of course in the birdcage.

last year i had the girls paint with water colors on 5×7 pieces of watercolor paper. the i cut out hearts and strung them on pink satin ribbon, and taped them to my shelf.

and that’s about it! are you a big valentine’s day decorator, or more of a minimalist, or skip the whole thing altogether?

Valentine’s decorations are so fun. I know a lot of people are turned off by the holiday b/c it’s so focused on sappy love sentiments and overpriced Hallmark greeting cards…but for me, it’s a nice time to remind friends and family that we LOVE them! And besides that, pink and red are such fun colors. :) Your house looks great.

(I can’t remember if i’ve commented before. We talked at the Vet’s hall “after Thanksgiving craft sale.”)

Thanks for the inspiration. I never know what to do with my birdcage. (I hung glass ornaments in it at Christmas, courtesy of your tutorial.) I just might have to do some of these projects.

If I decorate for Valentine’s, it’s usually as an add-on to Sedona’s birthday, but these ideas are just too cute to pass up!

Your kids are lucky to have the craftiness in their genes. Looks like your moms pretty crafty too. Your house always looks amazing.

bre – my mom is pretty crafty! i need to give her so much more credit than i do. not only has she taught me so much, but each time she’s here she inspires me to do more. its awesome!

I love Valentines day. I think in part because it’s the pink holiday, and I love pink :) and because it’s so fun to make/give little treats and gifts to your friends and loved ones. Your decorations look great!

my valentine decorating starts and stops with the bathroom hand towel! :)

If I had a little more time I might do more. ha who am I kidding!

my birdcage has a cheap (well, 50% off at Michaels :) )leaf garland filling it and a beautiful bright red cardinal in it!! The only place I have for it is on top of one of my china cabinets in the dining room so I don’t see it much, but when I do I fleetingly (and I mean the though just “fleets” through my brain and doesn’t stick long enough for me to do anything more!!!!)think about adding or subtracting seasonal stuff. However, when I do see it on occasion, I really like the effect!! I love seeing what you do with yours!!

Valentines Day is a hard to holiday to make it not look cheesy. I love your mom’s hearts. And, I love any time you show your decor!

very cute decorations. i don’t usually decorate much for valentines day but only because by the time i think i should do something it is too close to the day. i need to mark it on my list to decorate earlier like mid to end of january.

    cute ideas as always.
