guest blogger: nicole…not your typical basement

if you are new to my blog, i’d like to introduce you to my best friend, nicole. she sneaks in here about once a week to do a fun guest post for me. lately she’s been giving us a tour of her home. here she is again:

so, i promised you the basement. but i fibbed. i said i’d show you the place i craft, sew, and create and never clean up…so this is a false representation. i cleaned AND vacuumed it before these photos…sorry! the nesting mama in me thoroughly enjoyed every bag full of trash. here ya go folks…

welcome to my basement
the kiddos art work lines the ledge heading down

the big picture…remember, it is never this clean here

the details:

craigs list purchase from a former homeschoolin’ mama

i bought a few of these bitty chairs at a flea

wire rack full of the kids art stuff…all organized in old soup cans

this is my old kitchen table chopped in half to make 2 work surfaces…love a handy hubby

bought this with linds and fam at the rose bowl flea market before we moved to oregon. it served as a pantry in our first home.

a little ikea box that linds and i bought at ikea when we snuck off to portland. i covered it in fabric….perfect for storing sewing notions.

an old shutter (it’s pair is painted red in tyler’s bathroom)…do you see all that washed and ready fabric? keep me accountable ladies.

the table…oh, the table…25 bucks from a catering co. shutting their doors. and yes, it was already turquoise!

my sweet husband laid this vct flooring for me so i can let the kids paint down here.

the cubby under the stairs where the kids play…and i frequently hit my head…even at 5 feet tall

an old piece of furniture my brother trashed and left in the alley for someone to pick up. i rescued her, spray painted her, and made her pretty with a whole lot of paper and mod podge. i love trash!

the kids artwork is all hung up on the soffit in here

so, that’s our craetive space…usually littered with paper, scrap fabric, and kids’ crayons. i have been spoiled to have a place where i can simply close the door and pretend there is no mess.

so, up next…the boys’ bathroom…this is fun one! see ya next week!

p.s. props to my “imperfect” friend…linds has been conquering the creative world these days. up next with her will be some snazzy centerpieces for a fundraiser and miss gracie’s 6th birthday party…i know exactly what she will be doing and i am still dying to see the blog posts! xo

So cute! I love the vintage feel of the colors you used and your Craig’s lists desks are great. What a great space for the kiddos and you to do your crafting and learning.

I have the picture of those wire baskets from sundance pasted to my computer hoping the hubby will get the hint!! LOVE the space. I have some little desks like that, now to have a room for them.
