mud bath party

so you all know i love a good party, right? this love of all things party was driven in part years ago by a good friend of mine who used to throw the most amazing detailed parties, and when i was sans kids i could give all my free time to help set-up. well, 4 kids later for her she has toned down her party throwing and honed it to a t. she narrows the focus of the party and themes it around what the birthday kid is all about.

for her son’s 4th birthday, they had a mud bath party! they live in a little house on a couple acres of property, where they are also currently building a new home. so the entire property is a dirt field. or when it’s wet, a mud bath! i wish i had taken a picture of all their black rain boots lined up at the front door.

for decorations all they did was turn on a sprinkler and throw out a plastic tarp for a giant slip’n’slide. the kids loved it! we were instructed to wear grubby clothes or bathing suits and to bring a change of clothes for after.

shockingly, this is about as muddy as silas dared to get. i know my boy likes to get muddy, so this was a shocker!

it took my girly girls a few minutes, but soon enough they joined in on all the fun!

good times, and a great, easy, inexpensive party idea. what child doesn’t want a chance to roll around in the mud without getting in trouble?!

Even with mud on their faces, your kids still look great.

I love this post! It reminds me of when I was a kid. We grew up on a farm and we loved playing in the mud… I think I even have a few pictures of us FULL of mud!! :)

    hi lyndsey!
i am a faithful follower of your blog, and wish you were able to update at least once a day!
i have a favor to ask of you – i know you matched your silver sage with a cheaper brand from home depot (if memory serves me correctly), and i was hoping you would be able to provide me with the name and brand! i am so sorry to trouble you!

anonymous – i so wish i could do daily updates, too! alas, the life of a home schooler and small business owner don't always allow for it. some weeks are better than others, but for now at the beginning of the school year, my posting will sadly be more sporadic. thanks for visiting, though!

the paint i tend to use form home depot is behr. and if you go to lowes, i love the brand called american tradition (i think?). its inexpensive and high quality.
