redecorating shelves

like i mentioned yesterday, i tend to do unnecessary things when i’m already very busy.
it drives sean nuts!
i try to tell him that its just another reason to love me.

on either side of our fireplace are built in shelves.
they were starting to look a little cluttered
so i cleared them off, dusted (!!!!), edited and deleted.
i took out a lot of the tiny knick knacks.

sorry i didn’t take before pictures, but these are the afters.
i tried to get each side similar in balance, but not identical.
i also tried to balance the colors.

i’m so happy with the milk glass at the top.
not sure why, but i always felt like i couldn’t have serving pieces in the living room.
lame.
i *love* them here!
and besides, the dining room is about 3 feet away.
in the same great room.
silly me.

sometimes i get so stuck in a rut that i forget to try new things.
what have you tried lately?

just yesterday i clerared off our nightstand (which had a basket with a pitcher of silver dollars) and replaced it with a little lamp. I put the silver dollars in the family room. The cleared nightstand makes our room look so much cleaner! love your blog

I put my husband's grandmother's hutch in the twins' room. I LOVE it and it has great storage.
