pony tales

we live in a college town.
a big part of the school is its ag department.
so lucky us, we get to go visit the horses a lot since they are just around the corner from us.
its best in the spring when you see the huge bellies and then the wobbly kneed newborns.

gracie especially loves them.
she has since she was so young, never afraid of them.

she is so gentle and loving towards them.

and they love her right back.

of course, we do butter them up by bringing them apple treats.

even silas gets in on the action,
never afraid of anything, man nor beast.

this friendly guy kept coming back for more of si’s kisses.

lily, on the other hand, prefers to keep her distance.

can you see the horses off in the distance, putting on a little show for us!?!
i wasn’t quick enough to refocus.

we also went to the swine unit to visit the pigs.
to be honest, they were so huge and ugly that i just can’t post any of those pictures!

What memories I have from this. My dad worked with the ROTC and the housing department for the foundation. My friend would come visit from San Francisco and we would ride our bikes to CP to go see the animals, especially the piglets. Yeah, the mommas weren't very cute, but the piglets…loved 'em.

I grew up on a ranch with a horse named Shane…he loved watermelon rinds. What memories…your kiddos are so blessed. Have a great day.

I love going out the barn where we used to keep our horses. I actually like the picture focused on the kids and the horses blurred in the background. :)
