weekend getaway

sean & i were able to getaway for a night in santa barbara last weekend
while some friends watched our kids.THIS was our view from the condo we borrowed!
we woke up to the sunrise and dolphins!

then we went for a long (LONG!) walk along the boardwalk,
down past the harbor, on the pier,
then up state street until we stopped for breakfast.

and then we had a very long walk back!

our time together was incredibly refreshing.
we waited 4 1/2 YEARS for this!

having time alone with sean was so very needed and fulfilling.

our time at anthropologie was kind of needed and very fulfilling too, though ;)

we had so much fun walking up and down (and up and down) state street,
window shopping, eating, talking, connecting.
not worrying about anyone running into the street, finishing their food,
rushing to the potty, or being woken up too early.

and trying on shoes without chasing a 2 year old was nice, too!

thank you thank you thank you, joy & cade for taking our kids
and giving us complete peace of mind about them.
i can’t wait for your turn for the swap!

I so love this post. Better late than never. Jason and I have been married for nearly 18 years and we've NEVER been away from the kiddos, well, except for when one goes to a sleep over or to camp. It's hard to find someone who would take 5 kiddos at once.

    Wow! Dolphins!

Sounds relaxing. Those rare moments when we don't answer to "Mom and Dad" go a long way. Glad you had a great time!
