mediterranean cruise – part 6

almost done!
our last port was toulon, france.
overall somewhat unimpressive, but after a full week it was really perfect.

after sleeping in and doing our daily stretching class
we walked into town for their provencal market.
the food and setups were absolutely amazing,
so i’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

sean hopped into a game of foozball with some local boys!
doesn’t he blend in well? ;)
after a short day out, we went back to the boat and rested by the pool.
we had a cocktail party with the large group we were with (for sean’s work), dinner, then hung out at the pub until waaaay too late.
the next morning we woke up in barcelona.
not to our wake up call that was supposed to be at 6, but by the sun at 7:25!
because of our flight time and the boat having thousands of people on it,
they are really scheduled about who gets off when and where.
we had missed our boat departure time by 40 minutes!
after we rushed like crazy, missed our bus, waited for another bus,
we made it to that airport in plenty of time to catch our flight to paris.
which was delayed by 4 hours.
which meant we missed our connecting flight to l.a.
which meant we missed our connection flight home.
which meant our sweet friends who thought they only had to watch our kids for the last day actually had to watch them twice as long.
ugh.
buuuut….
i can’t complain too much as our over-night layover was in paris!
at that point we were missing the kids, so home sounded pretty nice,
but the lure of the eiffel tower was pretty strong, too.
as soon as we checked into our nasty college dorm-like hotel, we went back to the train to head into the city.
we had just enough time that evening to head over to the eiffel tower,

eat some dinner,

then watch the tower lights come on before we had to run back to the train before it stopped running at midnight.
not a bad ending to an amazing trip!
thanks for reading!

Oh! Toulon! It's good to see it again. I'll be back there in a short while for a year… makes me miss our southern markets, nothing like that here, alas.

You make it look so inviting. If your current gig doesn't work out, you could be a photographer.

Oh, that sounds like a perfect ending. There is NOTHING like that first sight of the Eiffel Tower. :) Except maybe for a French market. Wonderful, wonderful trip. We don't ever get to vacation like that unless it's through my husband's work, so I really enjoyed living vicariously through you in this series. :)

Those tomatoes were awesome! I saw in the pastry shop there was a Tropisienne- those are so yummy. They are like big cakes filled with cream- I love, love, love them and miss them dearly. What a wonderful trip- thanks for posting about it!
