i know its pretty obvious how to do this one, but i just thought i’d throw it out there for you:
~ a circle garland tutorial ~
step 1: cut out lots of paper circles from scrapbook paper and cardstock.
this could also be crazy cute with newspaper or graph paper and contrasting thread.
i used a 1″ circle punch and also cut out a couple larger sizes -
i used the different sizes of jars for the circle template
and cut about 8 layers at a time.
this part actually went pretty quickly.
step 2: decide on your pattern (or no pattern)
i went mostly random.
lily was my helper and she lined up the circles for me next to my machine so i could just grab as i sewed.
whenever there was a long strip of one color i’d just throw in a different circle to break it up.
you could also be very deliberate about making a pretty pattern.
step 3: sew!
i used red thread to pop a little.
i also used a pretty large stitch so it would go faster and not use as much thread.
then i just slid each circle under my presser foot as i sewed.
as soon as i started one i’d slide in the next as it went pretty quickly.
occasionally i wouldn’t be fast enough and there would be a small gap between the circles,
but i think it just added to the randomness.
then do it again, and again, and again.
really, this took very little time – maybe half an hour tops.

yes, they are gently used, but i just couldn’t bear throwing them in the trash!
