catching up

when we went down south a couple weekends ago we were in desperate need of some family time, which is often hard to find when you’re visiting relatives.

thankfully, one night we were able to get out, just the 5 of us.

we headed to the irvine spectrum, which has changed a lot since we had last been there (its a huge outdoor mall type thing – great for people watching).

the weather was incredible and we so enjoyed being together with just our little family.

we ate at a long-time favorite, wahoo’s, and were silly trying on hats and sunglasses.

loved the display in this store of the umbrellas and light bulbs!

and this flooring – aaahh!  its made of recycled leather belts – brilliant!

we finished off the night with a quick teaser of anthro.

love the book spine chandelier, beautiful latte bowls (i begged for more unnecessary latte bowls), and spiraled napkin towers hanging from the ceiling.

never disappointed there.

the next morning we were up bright foggy and early and headed to our favorite breakfast joint in our old town (*tears*).

then a stroll down the pier and some hang time at the beach.

unfortunately, sean forgot his surf board – now that would bring back memories… early mornings in san clemente, watching sean surf… ah to be young again!

just past the first point was where we lived – seriously beautiful.

what more does a boy need at the beach than a rock and some seaweed?

i am so thankful for our time to catch up, slow down, and relax!

Oh I miss Wahoos! Their fish tacos are so yummy!! There was one down the street from us when we lived in Beverly Hills last year (we moved in June to Texas).

You would laugh if you knew how many times I took pictures of the inside of Wahoos. I love the crazy way they decorate. Oh, and I’ve got a stack of little Wahoos bumper stickers. I would take one (or three) every time we went. Now I just need to attach them all to a surf board or something for my sons bedroom!

I have always loved you and your blog and now I know why. I was born and lived in Laguna Beach for 18 years before I went to college in Utah and now that is where I live. Wahoo’s was a staple in my diet and sand and surf ran in my blood. It was fun to see pictures of our old stompin grounds. Thanks for sharing!

Your girls have the kinds of faces where you can see what they’ll look like as women. They are so pretty. I miss the beach. The Midwest has a serious LACK of beach so it was fun to live vicariously through your pics!

I love everything San Clemente!! It is my favorite place to go!!

We were just in that neck of the woods last week! I had to laugh at this: “…early mornings in san clemente, watching sean surf… ah to be young again!” …because my almost-81-year-old father-in-law surfs at San Clemente about 3 days a week. EIGHTY-ONE!!!! Gotta love it!
