what i wore thursday, because i’m forgetful

you’re gonna laugh at me this week.  not only did i forget to do wiww on wednesday, but my clothing varies so much!  we have gone from 112 degrees to rainy and low 60’s.

top – target

shorts – target

sandals – gap

gracie played as my photographer for a little shoot we did for andrea.  i love this outfit, but did not love wearing it for the pictures – it was well over 100 degrees this day!

sweater – target

heather grey petal pusher – the pleated poppy

top – forever 21 (new – $15)

jeans – gap

flats – target

necklace – lisa leonard designs

top – nations outfitters

shorts – old cut-offs

since we were out of town for a long weekend, i wasn’t great about taking wiww pics.  here’s a little sneak at a pic of me on the train at disneyland.

tank – old navy

skirt – made by me

sandals (that you can’t see) – walmart

necklace – lisa leonard designs

picture courtesy of “auntie pretty” on the right (btw – i love my husband’s family!)

oh, san clemente!  you hold such a special place in my heart!  i lived here in college and for the first couple years of marriage.  this was where sean and i bought our first house.  where i’d take long naps on the beach when i was pregnant (i dug a hole in the sand so i could lay on my belly).

please excuse the silly outfit – no rhyme or reason to it.

top – nations outfitters again – super comfy

sweater – target

skirt – gap

leggings – walmart

bathing suit – old navy

lily’s birthday party with family

this is my niece ashley.  we were kinda matching – so cute, right? ;)

wow, someone needs to remember to suck in her gut. ahem.

top – local shop

shorts – old cut-offs

sandals – wlamart

then fall decided to come for a visit.

hat – local shop

sweater – target girls

tank – target

jeans – local shop

flops – rainbow sandals

and then it was raining…

and i thought i’d go with the “i look homeless” theme.  you’d think i would see this in the mirror, but no. i only noticed how bad i looked when i went to edit my pictures.

vest – target

sweatshirt – old navy

striped henley – target

jeans – local shop

tennies – payless

wow – i wore a lot of green and denim this week.  note to self: mix it up.

yay for thursdays!

i have decided they are my favorite days (other than weekends) because we get to stay home for the next 4 days if we want.  i love having my kids in school on mondays and wednesdays, but i love even more just having them home and not having to go anywhere.  homeschooling is very trying, but it is so worth it for me to just BE with them on those days.

ramble ramble blah blah…

have a great day!

  1. 1

I love seeing pics of you out and about and not just in front of the mirror. So stylish, as always.

  2. 2

You look cute, as always! I love the pink sweater outfit also. And, btw, WIWW is one of my favorite blogging days every week :) I love it!

  3. 3

So I love your idea how the little girls cardigans from Target!! I got one this weekend and I’m heading back for more colors. I love the soft cotton instead of the grown up material usually used on cardigans :) Thanks for the tip!

  4. 4

Love the cardigans and too funny about the I am homeless look. That’s a typical look for us new englanders at the sat. morning soccer game in freezing fall with frost! lol;) Too cute! Alyssa of Boston

  5. 5

Super cute top from Forever 21….or course I can’t seem to find it on their website though :(

  6. 6

I think Thursday is my favorite day too. We have Church on Wednesday night, so Thursday we are allowed to buy our breakfast and lunch at work because I didn’t get to pack them on Wednesday night. I’m silly, I know. Also, for some unknown reason, Thursday is my most productive night! I get SO much done after work on Thursday. Moreso than any other day of the week.

  7. 7

You are adorable! I found the WIWW feature the other day, and I will be joining in the fun next week! Great idea…I just love to see how other people dress and accessorize.

  8. 8

LOVE the out fits. You are adorable!

  9. 9

I love the pink sweater outfit too! Looking at your WIWW {or Thursday} posts always motivate me to try a little harder when I get dressed in the morning. Then I forget until the following week when I see all your cute outfits again.

  10. 10
    Heather Robertson says:

    I LOVE your forever 21 top!!!! Can’t find it anywhere…. :(

  11. 11

Can I just say without sounding creepy that if I had legs like yours I would wear shorts year round! You are adorable.

  12. 12

Ha ha! The homeless look is my idea of getting dressed! But PDX is a chillaxed city, thank goodness, so I’m going with it! :)

  13. 13

You always look adorable! Thanks for the fashion inspiration – and I just about spit my coffee out of my mouth at the “homeless look” comment. I think perhaps a trip to Target is in order for today.

  14. 14

Wowzers, y’all have had the extreme weather changes lately. Love the Forever 21 ruffly tunic with the pink cardi–even though you were melting, you were melting cutely.

  15. 15

oh man…not sure if my comment just got lost…hmmm

  16. 16

We have crazy weather here too. It can be in the 80’s one day (usually not normal for us) and then reach as low as the 50’s the next. Mother Nature is crazy!

    Just Better Together

  17. 17

hey there- where did you get or how did you build that cutting table of yours? I was thinking of buying a kitchen island… but would love some other ideas. Thanks!

    • 18

      hi shawna!

my husband’s company built all of our organizational stuff in our playroom. but i think a kitchen island would be great – even something inexpensive from ikea. i think the most important thing is that the height is a comfortable cutting height for you.

  18. 19

    You always look so cute!

  19. 20

I just love how you layer your clothes! So cute!

  20. 21

I love your WIWW blog. I always look for it every Wednesday morning and I was disappointed to not find it yesterday, however, I am glad it is here today. I have been trying to get my act together and participate as well, so far this week I have photo for Wednesday, and Thursday. I guess we’ll see how the rest of the week works out. I love seeing all you sylish outfits. Thank you so much for sharing! You will have check out my blog next Wednesday and see how I did! You can find me at loveoursimplelife.blogspot.com

  21. 22

LOVE the outfit with the pink sweater and jeans! SUPER cute! Thank for the inspiration!

  22. 23

Your last outfit is me @ preschool drop off in the mornings. Only I’d be wearing a hat too. :)

  23. 24

Thank you for posting these. They have become my favorites! If you saw my closet, you would know why. I need as much help as I can get in the clothing dept! :) I just followed your tutorial on fancying up a t-shirt {with the circles} and I LOVE it! Thank you, thank you!

  24. 25

oh, i love thursdays too…for a few reasons:
    1. the girls are in school until 3 pm…my free day!
    2. it is almost the weekend

i was going to do this and link up…but i never remember to take a picture of myself and i wear the same thing all of the time! so it is not that much fun. i am going to try to do it once a month! it is such a fun and great idea and love see your cute style!

enjoy the rest of your week!

  25. 26

Wow! How sad is this–your “homeless” outfit was one of my favorites! I need help-lol! This is such a fun idea. I love to see what other moms wear.

  26. 27

My fav is the ruffly gray tank from Old Navy – mostly b/c I own the same one but in hot pink! Picked it up for $6 (steal) and hubs loved it so much he used one of his Christmas gift cards to pay for it (love – the man hoards gift cards like it’s his job, but I adore him).

  27. 28

i have to say i like your “silly outfit.” maybe the beach makes it look even better…..but i like it:).

  28. 29

    FUN. I love your WIWW!
    As always, your too cute!
We’re having sunny fall weather this week, it’s been heaven.
Hoping we can hold onto this for awhile… but I’m not getting my hopes up.

  29. 30

As I scrolled through your wlww pics I came to the last one and said to myself, “that’s cute.” Then, I audibly laughed when I read your “I look homeless” description because in Portland, that is what 75% of us wear! In fact, you can even pull off “dressed up” if you just threw on some boots instead of running shoes! :)

  30. 31

Hi, I love your style! Cute! Cute! Cute! Is there any chance you have the name of the shirt that you bought from Forever 21? I’ve been trying to find it on their website and haven’t been able to so far… however, they have so much stuff! Wow! Anyway, if you could let me know any information that you have on it, I would be forever grateful! Thanks!

  31. 33

Holy cow I have decided that your idea about digging a hole in the sand to sleep on your tummy deserves some serious rewarding (I think that’s at about the same level as a Nobel Peace Prize)!!!! HOW BRILLIANT!!!! I live in NC and that thought has basically made me want to move to the beach now so that I can actually sleep in my next pregnancy!!!! Thank you so much! And I adore your style!!!

  32. 34

    Hi Lindsey!

I loved that you gave us a sneak peak of your studio. I’m a fairly new reader of your blog, so I was wondering if you’ve ever done a blog post about your studio before. If so, can you send me the link? I would love to see more! :). Thanks!

    • 35

      hi nicky!

welcome – glad you are here! on my sidebar is a search box so you can search for anything you want on my blog. its really helpful – i actually use it all the time when i’m looking for something specific to link to. i just typed in “studio” and got this link that should be pretty helpful: http://thepleatedpoppy.com/?s=studio. but you can also try a search under “playroom”, since my “studio” is really just the kids’ playroom!

  33. 37

You always look so cute! Ok, question for you and all the cute bloggers with style out there:
What are you dressing up as for Halloween???

    • 38

      celeste –

nothing! i don’t even know what my kids are going to be! i usually only would dress up if we were going to a party, and we’re not :(

  34. 39

Cute camera strap cover-where’d you get it?

  35. 41

OH MY GOODNESS! I was looking at that pier thinking, “That looks like the pier in San Clemente, but then I’m sure every pier looks somewhat the same.” AND THEN I read the caption. I lived there for several years and just moved to TX (tear). I miss it so much, and wish I could have some Selma’s Pizza and Velvet Yogurt. *sigh*

  36. 42

Hi! I found your blog through Lindy at 3 boys and 1 girl…I love those GAP sandals…and the walmart ones too! I was wondering if you made your camera strap cover? Or where did you get it? I LOVE IT! I am looking for one and can’t find one I like that’s affordable!

  37. 43

Sorry, I just now saw your reply to someone else for the strap cover. I’ll go check that out.
