fall shelves

above and below are what my shelves have looked like for a long time.  they look pretty, but since its been so long that i can’t remember when i (ok, my mom and i) rearranged them i’m getting a little tired of them.  and they feel a little cluttered.

so what better to do when my sister is here visiting but put her and my mom to work!  i was feeling super uninspired and had yet to do ANY fall decorating, so i asked them to redecorate my shelves and mantle.

we started by pulling everything off the shelves and dusting them because it had been so long that i can’t remember a little while.  we also scoured the rest of the house for anything else that was fallish or at least fall colors.  we pretty much came up empty handed.

the blank slate.

they started with the larger items and kept working until…

it felt just right!  the fake pumpkins were previously white so we glittered them (more on that later), and my mom picked up another rust colored candle for me, but otherwise it was all my stuff, just prettier!

i am loving the rusty orange with the deep aqua of the plates.

here’s a closer look.

and the other side.

i am so thankful for my mom and sister having the motivation to finish a project i couldn’t even get myself to start!

now if only i could finish that silly ottoman!
