the plan (aka part 6 of the master bedroom redo series)

i am terrible about starting a series and not finishing it.

huh, now that i think of it… i’m terrible about starting anything and finishing it!  ha!

before i forget to finish my thought, i’m talking specifically about my plan to finish our master bedroom.  if you want to catch up from forever ago, here’s part 1, part 2, part 3part 4, and part 5.  this will probably be a 37 part series.  you think i’m kidding.

since i have been at a stand still on deciding what to do with my pillows (also known as “i’m slammed with work and can’t find the time to sew for myself”), i decided to start with adding something to my walls.  in our room we have only hung one frame on the walls.  its been over 4 years.  so  i sean hung a pin board that was given to us by some friends.  i’ve know for awhile that i wanted to hang my jewelry from it because it was getting so jumbled hanging from hooks in my closet.  besides, i have some really pretty pieces that i’d love to see more, like my allora handmade necklace and my collection of new and “vintage” lisa leonard designs.

my vision for this wall is to have lots of random frames in all sorts of colors, some filled some left empty.  the mustard one i want to hang all of the photo booth pics i have of sean and i since we were kids (18 is a kid, right?), like i saw here (scroll down, above the dresser).  and i know i have an oval mirror somewhere around here, i think under the house.  sean already searched for it and came up empty handed, but i can’t imagine that i ever got rid of it.  i’ll kick myself if i did, for sure!

and the big pic in the middle of sean dipping me at our wedding, i want to change out the black mat and cover it in a funky fabric.

this little seahorse was my only personal purchase i made at the queen bee market.  i showed some serious restraint there, but this little guy was just so quirky and perfect.

and i love the little pops of color my bowl o’ posies gives.  i do think i should have more posies and petal pushers than that, though… i know just where to get them…  they sit in fornt of the teddy bear that was made from my gramps’ shirt after he passed away years ago – a true treasure – both the man and the bear.

and here’s a shot of the rest of the room.  still the same. i think i want some sort of thrifted/vintage letters on each side of the window pane above our bed – “s” and “l”.

this pile of fabric is taunting me to finish my pillow project.  i want to cover the euro shams in the back with a couple prints and then maybe a couple throw pillows.  since i know you’ll ask:  the fabric is almost all from arcadia by moda.  good luck finding any – its all out of print and scarce.  i snagged what i could when i could months ago.

i bought this round table cloth months ago without any reason other than it was beautiful.  i NEED to work it into this room.  i want to figure out a way to make it into a thrown for the end of the bed or something.

so that’s it!  i am reeeeeally hoping to get some pillows made this week, or more added to the wall.  do you think i can do it?  me neither. ;)

That table cloth looks so much like a Target Dwell Studio line I love. Your room looks so cozy. Love all the little cabinets. Can’t wait to see what you do although it all looks fabulous as is to me!

Very cute! Love the window art. I have been in the process of remodeling my bedroom too…its SO slow going. One thing I am debating doing is quilting my duvet cover I bought last year because I decided I don’t love duvet covers but I would love the fabric as a throw/accent quilt to fold on top of my bed. I think I’m gonna do it…you should try too!

I want that tablecloth for my whole duvet cover! love. also…I just took a picture to post sometime soon of my painted vintage frames, empty, hanging on the fence in my backyard. So cute. Wish I had a free wall in my house. Might have to do some re-arranging. Until then, I will be listing them in my etsy shop. A few sold at Queen Bee Market and I was so excited someone actually ‘got’ what they were painted for! Can’t wait to see the next 31 parts of the series. :)

I really liked this post. I have a huge blank wall in my master bedroom that needs something; I’m just not sure what. I really like the old window hanging behind your bed. It looks really cool with photos in it. I rescued a similar old window from my neighbor’s trash about a month ago. Thanks for sharing your room with us. It’s been great inspiration for me. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I just went to my friends house and she did an empty frame with her last name initial painted on the wall. It was in the bottom right hand corner of the frame. That’s a long and awkward sentence, but I hope you get the idea.

    I LURV open frames.

Why not edge the tablecloth in vintage lace, or antique doily pieces. I have so many hand crocheted from my Grandma, that I use them for projects like that all the time! Back it in something plush and velvety.

Not that you needed my ideas… you have so many wonderful ones all on your own!

Your blog is such an inspiration. Not only talent and idea-wise, but also family, friends, and love. Thanks so much for sharing your life and loves with everyone!

How did you make the jewelry frame? I love that idea.

I have that table cloth! My plan is to make it into some market bags. I just love the pattern.

My master bedroom is still a work in progress after 3 years, so I know exactly how you feel. Lots of other things come first. I am loving your room so far!
