its begining to look a lot like christmas!

thankfully i had my boutique last week to force me to get all my christmas decorations up and finished early this year!  my tree is pretty much the same as last year, but in case you’re new here, i thought i’d give you a little peak!

i bought the skirt probably 10 years ago, i think from kmart – pretty white fur.  yes, our tree is fake – sean’s allergic to real trees in our house.  after a few years of forcing him to have sinus infections over the holidays, i gave up and am so thankful for the ease of a fake tree.  i just miss the smell.

the ornaments are a combo of sparkly, shiny and matte in red, lime green, turquoise, hot pink, silver, white, and a touch of orange.  also in there are the ornaments my mom has given the kids over the years.

and we’ve also always done the tiny picture frames.  i bought them years ago from ikea and painted them a pewter color, then i filled them with pics of family and close friends.  see the cute pic of courtney at the top?  awwwwww!  also are some polka dot ornaments i made a couple years ago with glue dots and glitter.

i’m thinking adding some of the yarn balls would be fun, and some sort of a garland, something sewn maybe?

i’ve shown you mine, now you show me yours!

link up below with a specific post to your christmas tree, por favor.

Love your tree!! I like mine in person but the pictures don’t look as good. What’s your secret?

  4. 5

Pretty! Just what a Christmas tree should look like! :)

  5. 6

I think a button garland would be super cute!!

If you want the pine tree smell, there are PINE-SICLES that smell like real Christmas trees. They come in three different scents and I’ve seen them in several stores including Walmart.
You get 6 to a package and they’re green to blend into the tree itself :)

  7. 8

    gorgeous tree!

  8. 9

    Thanks so much for hosting!

We have a fake tree too… I have the most amazing Christmas Tree scented candle that smells just like the real thing. I get it from a local candle maker who sells them at a flea market by us!

  14. 15

I enjoyed visiting your blog. I came from 12 days of Christmas at Where Women Create. It is fun to look at Christmas trees, I must get finished decorating mine. Your polka dot ornaments are so cute!

  15. 16

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!! I love the color choice. The blue really pops!

Thanks for your sweet comment. I am also allergic to real trees. I love that your mom gives the kids ornaments. My family members gave my sister and I ornaments every year. When I got married and moved away my family came that Christmas and brought my box. They are still on my tree. My husband and I have continued the tradition with each other. We get at least one new ornament a year. Putting up the tree is my favorite tradition. We get to remember events, milestones, friends and family and all the places we lived.

    so cute!!
If you are missing the smell of a fresh tree, the best candle I have found that smells like the real thing is from Williams Sonoma! Not cheap, ($26? I think?) but the next best thing to the real deal!
thanks for a fun christmas tree link up! Looking forward to visiting some new friends!

Your tree looks great. Mine is only half decorated (it has been that way for about a week!) so I don’t have anything to link up but it’s fun to see everyone else’s tree! And if you want the smell of the real tree, I just bought the Fresh Balsam Wallflower scent from Bath and Body Works and it really smells like a live tree!…but hopefully your husband won’t be allergic to it!

  20. 21

Once again, Lindsey, you’ve done a fantastic job of decorating your home with style and heart. That’s a tough combination, but you never fail.

    Love it!

  21. 22

I’m sure it’s up there in one of the comments I just don’t have time to sit and make sure BUT if it is I hope to just stress it some more- the evergreen and fresh balsam wallflowers from bath and body works = INCREDIBLE. Smells just like I have a real tree. And if you want something that smells amazing but not as outdoorsy/overwhelming, you’ll LOVE the Winter scent!!! If you don’t like the wallflower the candles are just as good – and they all seem to be on sale recently! I got the wallflower and 4 refills for just under $20. Super deal for b&bw! People think I have a real tree with them plugged in :) Christmas wouldn’t be the same without that smell!

  22. 23

oh you guys are all so sweet to give me suggestions on different scents, etc i can use to replace the missed tree smell! unfortunately, i can’t even wear scented lotion, let alone perfume or light a scented candle due to his overactive sinus! so as much as i’d like to have a yummy smell of pine at christmas, i like having my husband around even more!

  23. 24

Sneaky! You had me fooled… I really thought your tree was real!!!

  24. 25

    I love your tree!

  25. 26

hello, your tree is lovely! so nice to have found you on WWC :)

  26. 27

Lindsey, is he allergic to eucalyptus, like in cough drops? Kinda similar to pine& keep his sinuses*open*? or tea tree oil? That way you could put the essential oil in the dispersal divot on a vaporizer&keep evrybodys’ snoots healthy. Or put eucalyptus branches(dried) in a holder of some sort behind the tree. Just another idea along the allergy lines but kinda close to pine-smell. I keep finding new allergies (sigh) so know any chem sensitivity stinks-sometimes literally. Never had this stuff as a kid, so now am developing to go along w autoimmune diseases-just keep adding to my repertoire. :-P Sure understand giving up smellies to keep his snoot&the rest of him happy! :D And loooove your tree,gr8 colors, downright *vibrant*! All good wishes to evrybody-s-

  27. 28

Ha! That made me laugh :) And yes- totally add the yarn balls!
