front entry tablescape

this is one of the happiest pieces in my home – my mustard dresser.

the day i painted this was the day i welcomed in color and said “no more!” to just white.

the drawers are filled with thomas the train tracks and accessories, gift wrap/tags, and tinker toys.  you know, the things that are hard to fit anywhere else!

i snagged this frame from a friend’s garage sale about 8 years ago.  it needs a little glue, but i still love the wide, beachy stripes.

my sister sent me a fun gift a couple years ago, including these vintage type press letters.

this letter c was a fun find a few years ago when my best friend and i met for the weekend in portland with our then babies.

and it just happens to sit right next to one of my most very favorite stacks of books – all inspiring, inside and out!

wall color: silver sage by restoration hardware

dresser color: pale french gold by behr (home depot)

crystal knobs: d. lawless hardware

letter c on a pedestal: anthropologie

I love it. Of course the greys mixed with the yellow just melts my heart. The letters and the books really give the area some character and the books are great for adding pops of color! :)

i know that yellow!!…our last house was old…100years…and i painted our most lived in room this shade (mixed it myself when the 1st yellow turned out to be so wrong…) everyone who came into our home LOVED this color. it also induced laziness and naps on the sofa…made my friends want to talk and share tears too….a wonderful cozy color.

  12. 12

Love, love, love the mustard yellow color. It was a front runner for my wedding colors. I am also a sucker for vignette pictures. I should take a few to put on my blog. It’s like the ultimate slice of life picture.

PS-I dont know if or what u changed, but I sure hope it works this way on giveaways! Am referring to “speak your mind” popping up *first* when you click on the comment link at the end of the post. Am still bumbling along w stoopidphone, and once it gets above even 50 comments sometimes,I cant get anywhere near adding a comment or entry. And fugeddaboudit if 600-700,like the LisaLeonard. So if you changed it, God bless you! And if it’s something weird that happened, can you make it stay? Please? I do love reading the comments, but sure cant get thru any of it when reaches certain volume. Keep tryng get my puter rehooked to the net&stuff keeps happening–like last tenant in folks’house letting pup destroy doors, wood flooring, and few pcs of furniture they needed-specifically told em abt memories, knew her for 11yrs, cant trust anybody. :( and now momma’s in hosp w pneumo, via squad&ER, so gas$ alone has eaten DSL/broadband fund. Growing up…long before I became a designer and sold furniture I admired/lusted after a pink painted dresser in my aunts cottage. We used to rent it every summer until we bought our own next door. Anyway, it had wonderful Country French lines much like yours and lately I find myself dreaming of being brave like you and my aunt to paint my daughters dresser and nightstand (now boring light wood but Country French cute). Hmm…maybe this summer!
