(for previous parts of this series, see here.)
i’m not sure why, but putting a nail into any wall here has been really hard for me. i mean, its been 4 1/2 years since we built this place and i’ve only hung one other thing on the walls in my bedroom before this.
but i am so happy i did!
this little wall collage thing is not exactly what i had envisioned, but i am totally ok with that and its much better than it was before: blank.
still need to figure out what i’m going to do with that chair over there. its in really good shape, but under the blanket is a salmon fabric that i just can’t handle. getting it reupholstered is out of my price range, and making a slipcover i think is beyond my abilities. maybe kristi wants to come for a visit? kristi, didn’t you say you have family here? you should visit. and help me slipcover my chair.
years ago, when i first started garage sale-ing seriously (is there such a thing), i struck gold. there was an estate sale of a woman that was an artist and she had stockpiled these gaudy ornate frames. i bought a ton, kept some, and gave a bunch away. i think i paid maybe a buck a piece. ridiculous!
i love them with their new lives and painted fun colors.
i got the mirror from ruby rose a couple weeks ago and painted it black, which i don’t love, but not sure what else to do. make a creamy color? it was a dark gold before and just blended in with the flax wall color (restoration hardware).
and the mat around our wedding picture – its going. i tried to recover a plain black mat with fabric, and this one ended up looking like a hawaiian print – totally wrong for this space. i’ll try something else with less of a bold print.
i totally stole this idea from here. as soon as i saw it i was smitten.
sean and i have been taking these silly pictures since we first started dating when i was 18. i think i was even wearing overalls in some of the pics!
and a fun little touch – damask birds hanging from the lamp.
i’ve also made new pillows for our bed that i forgot to take pics of – guess that means there’ll be at least a part 8 of this series – lucky you! ;)
