“studio” tour

i always feel funny calling my workspace my “studio” because really, it’s just a corner of our playroom!  it’s where we spend the majority of our days – playing, schooling, crafting – it all happens in here.  the thought of my own space in some ways sounds dreamy, but in so many others it sounds so lonely!

so this is my space!  there is a ton of light that pours into this room and the views from the windows are lovely.

i have my desk to the left that holds my sewing machine and laptop, and to the right my new die cutting machine (purchased recently due to never-ending aches in my hands, wrists, and arms – boo).  to the right of my cutting table are huge hooks that hold bloom bags and next to them is my table top ironing board.

this is one of my favorite views – aaaaaaah!

this is my cutting table, my main work station.  this is where i design, where i fiddle, where i pair together fabrics – my happy place!

and the fabrics.  oh, the fabrics!  just one of the very many reasons why i love my job!  wanna know where i get it?  almost all of it is from hawthorne threads.  seriously awesome selection, and very competitive pricing, which gets discounted with each purchase!

i need more red and black fabric.  can’t you tell? ;)

a jar full of happiness!  future chubby button hairclips, or buttons for posies.

more fun!  most of these will find homes on covered notebooks.

and now for a peek in my drawers:  this is the top drawer.  i can reach it easiest when i’m at my sewing machine and just turn and grab the scissors i need. or my glue gun and sticks.  also in here are my rulers for rotary cutting, and extension cord for when i have too many things plugged in under my feet, and a roll of white paper for photographing products (a near daily job).

all this fabric was for petal pushers.  i say “was” because it is no longer there, but cut into perfect petals and slowly being assembled for many many new petal pushers.  do you see a new color or 2 in there?!

this drawer is now empty, too!  these were all transformed into ruffled scarves last week!  more fabric in super fun colors are due to arrive monday… eeek!

and i don’t even want to look in this drawer!  unfinished projects galore. ugh.

top drawer of the right side:  my mini shipping department.  i don’t normally do any of my shipping from here, but if i need to, i have a few necessities, and some extras: stamps, tape, price tags, paper clips, business cards, post cards, and stickers.

this drawer is dedicated to tiny pouches, petal drop necklaces, and covered buttons.

on the right are loose posies (not in sets yet), and on the left is a bag of bags.  sounds silly, but i use a lot of bags.  big bags, little bags, huge bags, tiny bags.  i use them to separate and organize and keep tiny things from getting lost.  and i reuse them, so this is where all my bags go when they are empty.  in the bag ;)

this bottom drawer holds my iron and some other fun goodies, tba soon.

no, my work space rarely looks this good!  i am a messy messy girl and work on way too many things at once.  but when i do get it all nice and back in order i like to reward myself with a little treat: pairing new fabrics together!  these groups above have all now become tiny pouches!

speaking of tiny pouches, did you see them all?  i am really loving these new combos!

i also just restocked more covered notebooks and zippered pouches

and a few more chubby button hair clip sets!

now that you’ve seen it all pretty and clean, i’m off to make it messy and make something pretty and ruffly!

  1. 1

Thank you for the tour! Your “studio” is fabulous!

  2. 2

This is a beautiful space. You have such a gift for combining fabrics. I really LOVE the pillows on your sofa! Will you ever sell pillow covers in your shop?

  3. 3

That was a fun little post to see where all the magic happens. Thanks for sharing. I don’t know what I would do if I had that room. What a blessing!!!

  4. 4

I love your work space ! We don’t have a enough room for to have my own space so each night I get out everything! and use the kitchen table, only to have to put it all away for breakfast :(

  5. 5

What a cool space! I love your studio :)

  6. 6

I love that cabinet with the wire mesh drawers. Very handy! Can you tell us where you bought it?

  7. 7

Thanks so much for the tour. The room, the light, the colors are so inspiring! It’s dreamy!

    Have fun!

  8. 8

Love seeing your studio! I think I love fabric as much as you. My stomach does flip flops looking at all that yummy goodness!

  9. 9

Oh, so pretty and ORGANIZED!! You don’t ever want to see my sewing corner! I think some rearranging is in order.

Where did you get the piece with the basket drawers? I love that! I need one!

  10. 10

You are very organized! I love your studio. That fabric is very exciting to look at!

i love your space! i’m going to show my hubby later, i currently use the kitchen table as well, but i’d like to set up a small area in our guest room. quick Q, when you (or anyone else who sees this) buy fabric, how much do you buy? i’d also like to collect a stash of fabrics but i don’t want to buy too much/little cloth.

  12. 12

What a fun peek into your work space!

  13. 13

Thanks for sharing!! Do you know where you got your work station?!? I love the roll out drawers!

  14. 14

What a fun space! I have my own studio as well and I it’s my favorite place in my house.

What brand of die-cutting machine do you use? I have so many but not the Silhouette. I’m thinking of purchasing that one.

  15. 15

Wow. I am drooling over your clean, well-lit, organized space. I have a severe addiction to fabric, though I cannot even thread a bobbin on my sewing machine… so I have a box of patterns and fabrics waiting to be used — and no way to use them. In any case, your space is beautiful.

  16. 16

Love it! So pretty and bright!!

  17. 17

I do believe I’ve asked you this before but I can’t remember so I am saying what the heck and throwing all caution to the wind. Is this wall color silver sage as well? I really like it.

And you have such good lighting. I’d spend my days there too. :-)

  18. 18

Can I bother you to show more pics of the other side of the playroom. Like the picture you showed when you posted about your couch situation. Your playroom pic inspired me as to what I may can do with ours which is empty as of now since it just got re-carpeted. Did you guys build all that or did you have someone come in and build the big desk and wall unit for you? Thanks for sharing!

  19. 19

Thanks for sharing! I love it. I really want a craft room and my hubby has promised it for the next house we are getting ready to build! I love the white desk! I have a few questions…Do you get your fabric wholesale from Hawthorne Threads? Also, where do you get your tags, hair clip holders, and labels printed? My friend and I are looking to start some local children’s clothing line in our hometown are looking for wholesale fabric and labels. Thanks!

  20. 20

I love that you have a predominately neutral palatte overall, but that you infuse so much color into it. So pretty! That would be my happy place too.

  21. 21

I love it! So jalous of your space-it makes me want to start working more n how my workroom looks…I have so many windows there’s not much I can do…
But I must ask 2 things: I’ve been looking for funky flashcards for the kids’ playroom-where did you find yours?
Also-Your desk w/ the wire drawers that pull out-it’s fabulous. Did you order that from somewhere or build it?
    Thanks for the tour!

  22. 22

I have “studio” envy! I love your little work space – it’s such a happy place! And those fabrics…love!!

  23. 23

i LOVE your drawer system. didn’t you say your husband made them? IKEA has something similar, for those of us whose husbands aren’t so savvy with a saw. ;) and like always your fabrics make me drool. i wanna know more about that new die cut machine!!! deets!!

  24. 24

UMMMMM . . . This is my dream

  25. 25

if you reeeaaaaalllllyyyyyyyyyy love me (and i believe you do), than there will be a b/w polka dotted ruffle scarf RESERVED in MY NAME!?

    do you reeeaaaaallllyyyyyyyyy love me???

  26. 26

just lovely! the picture of the stacks of fabric is bea.u.ti.ful!!!!!

  27. 27

What a happy & inviting space to work in, I’m inspired!

  28. 28

Your work space is so cute! Looks like you have tons of pretties around you to help inspire! I love all of your storage and space too.

  29. 29

Oh I LOVE it! I must create a space like this for myself this summer. I am inspired – thank you for sharing!! :)

    Keri Barrie says:

Can you tell me who makes the gray fabric in your picture of the fabric pairings for tiny pouches. I have looked at Hawthorne and cannot find it. You have it paired with the pink and green polka dot fabric. I bought a tiny pouch from you with that fabric and I want to make a purse! Thanks!!!

  31. 31

Pretty & Happy & So Colorful!!

  32. 32

i adore your space! The colors are so bright and inspirational. :)gina

  33. 33

Your “studio” is to die for! I have just changed my closet into a work space for my scrapbooking–but your place…I would kill for. Have fun being creative there. :)

  34. 34

Wow, thanks for sharing. What a great space.
I am in the midst of creating a new space in our basement….. to be called my ‘workshop’. Really, I am just moving from one corner of the basement to the other, but it will be all mine!
    Very exciting! Love your space!

  35. 35

I LOVE this!! Will you show us the other side too? I think it’s awesome that your “play area” is where your kids play too – I know it isn’t 100% quality time, but playing separately side by side has its value too.

I’ve gotten some great quality fabric at ConnectingThreads.com, and their prices are very competitive!

  36. 36

My sewing room has just moved…I too thought having a separate room away from kiddos would be so relaxing and inspiring. Boy was I wrong mainly because I could never get out there…a kiddo always needed something and I would be walking back and forth all day. So I have made the dining room mine since we only use it twice a year and the kiddos have their area right there with me. It works out so much better.
    Love your blog!

  37. 37

I Would like to know where you purchased your cutting table from? It is the ideal storage unit and cutting area. I love it. Your space is bright, cheerful and fun.

Please advise, and have a blessed day.

  38. 38

I am drooling over your bright, organized, fabric filled (gawwww-jus!) workspace.

  39. 39

You are inspiring. I loved the photos of your large living space. But I adore your work space, especially since it seems it’s also your kid’s space too. Congrats on such a gorgeous work area…must be fun to work!

  40. 40

What a great space! I know your shelves above the desk are obvious but I never thought about it before what a great idea!

  41. 41

studio tours are so fun :] :]
i want to steal your mini sewing machine.

  42. 42

LOVE your space! really wishing i had one to do this sort of thing with! where did you find your cutting table/drawers piece? and is that knit fabric you use for your petal pushers? i LOVE all of your stuff! thanks!

  43. 43

Your space is so inspiring! I would love to know what the other half of the room looks like – the kid’s part. I currently have my own office (formal living room), and the kids share their “play room” with the family room. So they are in there all afternoon, while I am alone in here. Thinking of bringing them over here to my office, to free up more family room space, but not sure how well it would work… Would love to hear comments from others!

  44. 44

What a beautiful workspace! Thank you for sharing it with us! I could sit and look at fabric all day…it truly is an addiction :)

  45. 45

I just have one question . . . . “how do you keep yours kids out of your stuff?”

  46. 46

ohhhhh so fabulous. i just want to live here :)

  47. 47

Color me green with envy! Fabulous work space!! I have those same animal alphabet cards and your table top ironing board looks like mine (well loved)! I’ve never seen a square/rectangle one? LOVE your fabrics. I do applique and I have bins of fabric all crammed in the drawers. I love reading your blog each day! :)

  48. 48

Oooh, Linsay, when I grow up, I want my sewing room to look like yours! (Already my sewing armoire is inspired by your beautiful fabric stacks.) I am very intrigued by your new items – that was quite a fun peek! Have a fun and safe trip!

  49. 49

I loooove your craft space and it’s so organized. I also love how you have your fabrics displayed.

  50. 50

I’m usually just a “lurker” on your blog but I just have to ask; where did you get that awesome cutting table/desk with the drawers? It’s awesome and exactly what I need! Your sewing nook rocks by the way. ;)

  51. 51

I would LOVE a work space like yours just to study, I mean get distracted when I study. I love your mini pouches :) they’re so adorable.

I have a question. That heart fabric on the little pouch… can you tell me where you got it? I am doing my daughter’s 1st bday party in multi-colored hearts and that is EXACTLY what I have been searching for but not finding!

Thank you! oh the drawers and cabinets… AWESOME!

  55. 55

Love your studio! What a festive place to design! Where did you find the desk and cabinets, I’m in the process of redesigning my home office and want something white with storage drawers underneath, this desk would work great!

  56. 56

  72. 72

What a fun place to work! I bought those same ABC cards to use in our churches nursery. So cute!

  73. 73

Lovely workspace. Where is that cutting table with the drawers underneath from?

  74. 74

Love the workspace, so organized. I’d love to know where you like to shop for fabric. Especially the yellow/gray fabric. I’ve been looking for that exact color combo. Thanks!

  75. 75

  76. 76
