family getaway

we escaped last week for a looong weekend away (wednesday through monday) in santa barbara.  the weather was pretty iffy, but when the sun was out, so were we!

some friends of the family own a condo they let us borrow that is right on the beach (that’s it, way up there – top left).   not too shabby.  just a hop, skip and a hundred steps to the beach!

oh sweet lily, in all her 5 year old wonderfulness!

but on the days that were quite blustery, we were content to stay inside, playing with cars and polly pockets, doing a little schoolin’, a lot of cartoonin’ (and blogging).

sometimes when you’re feeling cooped up, you just need to exercise!  actually, lily quite often will randomly decide its time to exercise and start doing stretches and some gymnastics – its hilarious!  she must get her desire to be fit from her mother. ahem.

our last day was our most beautiful.  of course.  isn’t that how it always is?  not too bad of a view!

we went to the santa barbara zoo 3 times!  i spotted the cutest little monkey there!

they have this fun little stage area that the kids thought was hilarious!  note to locals:  if you plan to visit the sb zoo, get an annual pass from our local smaller zoo, charles paddock zoo.  the annual pass is only $50 for a family and is good for the santa barbara zoo as well.  if we bought our tix from the sb zoo, it would’ve cost our family about $54 for 1 day!

look at that!  such a rare sight to see!  no, not the lions, but 2 sisters standing within arms distance and not fighting!  wonders never cease…

so. so. so nice to have time with our family. just our family. (with a tiny visit from the grandparents) having sean around for 5 days was perfect.

somebody’s been working out!

lu and elephants – 2 of my favorite things!

again, who let the monkey roam free?!

the sweatshirt was from silas’ halloween costume, we just ripped off the tail.  such an appropriate outfit for him.

i love vacations.

i love my family.

the end.

The arches on Lily’s feet are incredible and you owe it to society to put her in ballet. She would love it!
