around town {vintage, etc}

one of my very favorite local stores, called the nest, closed recently. boo.

but after a clear out sale, a complete repaint, and fun fresh products brought in, they have reopened in the same beautiful location but now with a new name: vintage, etc!

every time i go into this sweet shop its like i’m breathing in inspiration – so filled with light and pretty finds.

i believe the location was originally a general store (i could be way off, but i always picture little house on the prairie!).

i love the wall-to-wall shelves!

the jar lid is adorable, but look past it at the finish on the dresser top!  i love peeling layers of paint!

the shop owners do a great job with their displays – always so pretty!

these hanging jars are calling my name for a little spring time porch project i have going.  hmmm… i may have to go back.

if you’re local or visiting our town, they are located at 800 palm street in san luis obispo.

is this store located in the arroyo grande village? It looks like the nickel and dime store i shopped in as a young child!

Soo purdy! I like the peach and teal bowls and glassware in the 2 to last picture! It would be sooo neat to own a shop like this…

What a BEAUTIFUL little store! How did I miss this place all the times that I’ve been to SLO!! (Used to live in Fresno, CA) :( And now I live in Oklahoma…

I LOVED the Nest, and was so disappointed when I went to go browse one day on my lunch, only to discover the doors locked. Three weeks later and VOILA! Oh happy day! I absolutely love that store, and leave with so many ideas! It is great for inspiration, as well as lots of good “finds!”

What a beautiful store! If it wasn’t originally a general store, those cabinets certainly were made to look like it. I love stores like that where you can just go in and feel inspired…and maybe even walk away with a little treasure ;)

  13. 13

I didn’t know you lived in SLO. My brother is in Morro Bay. I’m in Alabama, but next time I come to visit him I will have to make sure I stop in. Looks like a great store!

How did you not buy one of everything?! We have a darling antique store here in Napa that I often go to and browse and it is so hard to not buy it all. That first picture just makes me all butterfly-ee inside!

Oh looks fun! I live in LA when I am in the states, and might want to make this drive!

  16. 16

How fun! I wish I wasn’t so very far away.

(Do you happen to know what happened to Allora? Her site (www.allorahandmade-blog.com) isn’t working for me.)

Aak! I did not know any of this! I’m so glad they’re not totally gone. Definitely one of my faves. I’m missing the painted quote about building nests, though. Those jars are calling my name also. I have been looking for some like that since foolishly passing some up at the Strawberry festival a few years ago…
