please, mr. postman!

wanna know how to make me happy?

send me something, anything, in the mail.

it could even be something i ordered and paid for myself.

i love getting home and finding packages of all sizes at my doorstep!

i used to get mad at sean when he’d get the mail before i could – it was my one little surprise of the day (clearly those were the days where all i did was sit around and nurse babies).

oh, i guess i should rephrase and say i don’t really prefer to get bills in the mail.  no thank you, return to sender, thankyouverymuch.

so what should i find when we return home from bloggy bootcamp?

oh, yeah, baby!

a giant box from target (yay for bogo sale!), 2 boxes of mailers, 2 boxes of petal pusher supplies, one package of fabric, and one sweet gift from a local shop!

i had to force myself to unpack and get the kids settled before i could have my own mini-christmas with these packages!

  1. 1

i am the exact same way! bring on the packages!! : )

  2. 2

    isn’t mail happy.
    {agreed bills don’t count}
I am still a big fan, paper thank you notes, sending sweet treat to nephews on holidays, anything packaged up & delivered is indeed a surprise.
YOU got quite a bit of loot!

  3. 3

ooo- I feel the SAME way about the mail. Our mailbox is a mile from our house so we stop on the way home from school each day. If I get a package I can’t even wait until I get home to open it! No shame. That is quite a haul. How fun for you!

  4. 4

    you’re welcome.

  5. 5

My name is Kris and I’m addicted to getting packages! And it’s rubbing off on the kids. They run to the door yelling presents whenever they hear a car drive past the house.

I must agree getting packages in the mail is like a mini Christmas! lol

  7. 7

I am the exact same way. I love getting packages.

  8. 8

Yup, Im the same way! Even a handwritten letter is such a gift to me(esp b/c theyre so rare nowadays). Looks like a fun day!

  9. 9

I love packages too! Even if I ordered the item myself and know exactly what I’m getting.

  10. 10

I feel the same way about mail!! I love getting packages …. which is why swap-bot can be so addictive! :)

P.S. I am new to your blog — love it! Hugs, Sara :)

  11. 11

Woot-woot, that is an exciting day. Merry (mini) Christmas to you. :)

  12. 12

I LOVE getting snail mail {even if it something I ordered!} Opening the mailbox and seeing a little envelope or package waiting for you can brighten even the dullest of days!!! xoxo

  13. 13

Oh, me too! We live in a very remote area with zero shopping (and I do mean literally *zero*) and I LIVE for mail days!!

  14. 14

I know how fun are packages!?

  15. 15

oh, I’m so with you on this one. neighbors probably think I’m stalking the mailman because I’m out there as soon as I hear the truck go by! And would it make me a bad neighbor if I admitted that I get a little ticked off when my next door neighbor gets a visit from FedEx or UPS

I Love mail! I have been buying & selling on ebay for almost 10 years. I love taking the time to wrap what I sell in pretty tissue paper & tie it up w/ ribbon & a note. My daughter is 7yrs old 7 knows the fine art of thank you cards. She draws the art on her blank cards , writes the note & I enclose a picture of her w/ her gift. I’m so sadden that mail has become a lost art in it’s own way. I refuse to send a e-card or e-gift card for Bdays. I pick out cute gifts & pack them w/ creativity & care.

  17. 17

i love to get mail and/or packages too! in fact, i’m expecting one today and i keep looking out the window for the ups man :)

Great post – so funny and i know the feeling – but there are not so many packages at the moment at my house. Hmmmmm! Have a nice week and thanks for sharing.

Lovely blog, Lindsey–thanks for the inspiration!

My favourite parcel arrived one year from my sister in South Africa (I live in Canada). She had taken the time to coerce each of my close relatives–parents, siblings, even cousins and their Christmas guests!–to write on a postcard for me. Then she mailed the whole collection. Wow! What a treat to arrive home one blustery winter’s day and find a parcel containing so much sunshine! There must’ve been at least a dozen handwritten postcards in her package. That long-ago memory still makes me smile.

This year I turned 40 and she did the same thing for my birthday, bless her dear heart. There’s nothing as sweet as unexpected mail bearing messages of love across the miles and time zones that separate us, eh?

smiling as I read your post

I’ve been hearing (great things) about you for months from my daughter, Ashley of LMM. It was great to meet you at BBC this weekend. just signed up for your newsletter and looking forward to reading it.

  21. 21

Oh how exciting Lindsey! I love getting the mail too! It’s kind of funny I just did a post about getting the mail last week! Although I didn’t get packages quite as big or as many as you did I was still very thrilled!

I feel the same way, it’s so funny. My sweet sister even wrote me a letter once when we lived in the same house because she knew how happy it made me to get mail. And don’t even get me started on packages!!! :) Love your blog!

  23. 23

I love packages too and recently received my mustard color ruffled scarf. soooooo excited to wear it! (i’ve been sick so there’s been a slight delay) the color is PERFECTION!

  24. 24

This made me laugh out loud! I LOVE getting the mail each day and my husband regularly makes fun of me for it! I loved it even before staying home and nursing babies all day! I especially love knowing that I’m not the only quirky one (in regard to my mailbox)!!

  25. 25

Ohhhh me too! I’ve split and broken many a nail, opening boxes oh so impatiently :)

  26. 26

And I thought I was the only one that loved to check the mail everyday! My husband makes fun of me for this addiction! :)

  27. 27

And now I am home nursing…so your post made my day even more!

  28. 28

Oh how I love the mail too! I had a sweet little package in the mail yesterday and I could not contain myself. I know EXACTLY how you feel! My kids now are the same way and we knock each other down to get out the door to check the mail.

Just discovered your blog and following you on twitter – love it all!

  29. 29

Me too! I love getting fun packages in the mail, bills..mmm..not so much! Did you get my package w/ the little treat inside?? :)

  30. 30

Oh, FUN! I love getting packages too!

  31. 31

Getting mail is great. I remember being little and waiting for the postman with my mom. I loved getting notes and letters from my grandparents and pen pals :)

  32. 32

I look forward to getting the mail everyday on the way home from work. Love, love, love it!

  33. 33

I LOVE getting the mail. I subscribe to every magazine under the sun, so there’s always something good to find! Plus, I always order my shoes online when there is free shipping, so I don’t feel guilty (and broke) if I have to send them back!

  34. 34

oh a woman after my own heart! i absolutely love to get mail…and anything in boxes is the best!

  35. 35

I got excited just LOOKING at your picture of packages!!! :o) That’s so exciting for you. And I’m really glad you shared this because I started to think that something was serious wrong with me… I know the sound of the mail and UPS trucks better than any other sound. Those sounds make my heart go pitter patter. ;o)

  36. 36

Any of those boxes up for grabs?! I have a bunch of bird mobiles going out but I’m lacking boxes! Please let me know. :) m
