what i wore wednesday {maternity edition}

happy wednesday everyone!

i want to introduce you all to my sweet little sister-in-law, courtney!

she is the talented mastermind behind 2 businesses, joyful weddings & events and joyful joyful and also mama to my sweet nephew isaiah!

i thought it would be fun to feature a super stylish mom-to-be, and it turns out that so many of courtney’s outfits could easily be replicated for non-maternity wear.

thanks so much for joining us today, court!

Finding cute maternity clothes can be tough- especially when you do not want to break the bank on clothes you’ll only be wearing for 6 months. I found it especially difficult to find clothes that did not look like moomoos on my 5 foot frame. I ended up with a collection of simple pieces that I could dress up with accessories and I am honestly a bit sad that I have to put most of them back into the “pregnancy clothes” box destined for storage. After month 7, my heels were relegated to the closet and I fell in love with flats- they became my favorite way to jazz up a boring outfit.

Sweater: Gap Maternity (sleeves and bottom hem fold up to make a striped cuff- 2 shirts in one!)

Skinny Jeans: Old Navy Maternity (on sale for $10- even in short length- score of this pregnancy!)

Sparkly Flats: Steve Madden from Nordstrom

Necklace: Allora Handmade

Shirt: Nordstrom (Brass Plum- I was able to find some great tops that were not maternity, but empire waist totally worked)

Black tank: Gap maternity

Grey Sweater: Gap

Black Skinny Jeans: Borrowed from a friend, Gap Maternity

Ruffled Flats: H&M

Headband: Allora Handmade

Necklace: borrowed from my sister almost a decade ago :)

Sweater: Anthropologie (Funny story: My mom found it on clearance for under $15- UNDER $15!- but then thought it looked like a maternity top. I snagged it before she could even think of returning it!)

T-shirt: Liz Lange Maternity for Target

Jeans: Borrowed from a friend- David Bitton for Pea in the Pod

Shoes: Sanuk

Necklace: Vintage- heirloom cameo given to me by my husband’s grandmother

Headband: Emily Sparks Handmade

Shirt: Gap Maternity

Later that day, we went out in the rain, so I added these:

The perfect maternity sweatshirt! This had been my hardest article of clothing to find- a sweatshirt that was comfy, but not a mens size XL and that was cute. My mom discovered this one in Old Navy’s maternity department.

Scarf from Gap and, you can’t see them, but there are Uggs on my feet.

Dressing up is always harder for me when pregnant. I have work dresses, but they are not so cute- just professional. I mainly got cute on sundays, for meetings and for my showers- other than that, I stayed in jeans, sweats or tights. Speaking of tights- my go to dress up outfit isn’t shown here, but I wanted to mention that I found a great little black dress in H&M’s maternity section. I wore it at least once a week with tights, a sweater and flats. My husband called it my uniform!

Here are the outfits I ended up wearing to my showers:

My first shower was a camping theme– so cute! My friend threw her red flannel on me when I arrived :)

Black Ruffle Dress: Old Navy Maternity

Shoes: H&M

Shower #2: I don’t even look prego in this picture! Apparently, this dress is good for concealing baby bumps in photos :)

Dress: Old Navy (not maternity)

Tights: Macys

Shoes: H&M

Petal Pusher: The Pleated Poppy :)

Shower #3:

Turquoise Tunic: Borrowed from a friend

Tights: Macys

Shoes: Steve Madden

And the reason for all of these maternity clothes:
