what i wore wednesday

another failed week of wiww, but i promise i got dressed almost every day!  i just didn’t get to taking pics of myself because we were either out of town (hello… queen bee?), or i was just plain too busy!

if you’re new here and think this is a bunch of craziness… it is!  but there really is a reason behind it all.  long ago i was, and still am, a stay-at-home, work-at-home, homeschooling mama.  which basically means i don’t get out much.  so why add to the laundry pile and get dressed everyday when pj’s were a perfectly fine uniform.  and if i did have to get out, sweats and a hat were better than pj’s, so they were my dressy clothes.  i decided to make more of an effort in taking care of myself, namely just getting dressed in the morning.  i have used my blog as a foundation for this to be my accountability, and it really has made a difference!  thankfully, i’m not alone in this and so many of you have joined in with me and validated that i’m not totally crazy.  or at least i’m not alone ;)

i document my outfits and describe what i’m wearing and where i got it because most of it is very affordable, or i’ve had forever, and i want to show that making an effort to take care of yourself doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune.

cardi, skinnies, and boots (still for sale online) – target

shirt – macy’s (early b-day gift from my m.i.l.)

necklace – lisa leonard designs

and yes, he is adorable!  i totally agree!

and then there’s lily.

yellow ruffly cardi, pink polka dot shirt layered over a pink striped shirt, with a pink sash, pink tutu, pink leggings, and argyle knee highs with white mary jane tennies.  i dare anyone over 6 to try this outfit and pull it off so well!  this girl can rock the funk like no other, and she has the sass to boot!  when i get out the camera with her she comes alive and gets so stinkin’ hilarious!

if you’d like to link up with me, just do so below.

Lily is my favorite part of your post this week. What a sas pot! Next time I made it to your neck of the woods our sassy girls will have to play together. Happy Wednesday!

I particularly like the argyle socks! Thanks for hosting this week, it’s been awhile since I linked up but the warmer weather has me inspired to wear new summer clothes.

  7. 7

Loving Lily’s outfit – the socks make all the difference:)

  8. 8

    Oh, Silas…love him! :)

  9. 9

Love that your daughter has soo much personality — I think it’s great when parents let it shine! I think my mom picked out my clothes until I was, like, 10. Maybe that’s why it’s hard for me to put things together now? :)

  10. 10

I get dressed up for work every day, but I usually only take pics 1 day a week. It’s just too hard.

  11. 11

Thanks for hosting! I love you daughter’s style (and yours). She’s got “it”!

  12. 12

Okay, until I saw Lily’s most adorable pics, I thought I was completely done with the occasional “wish I had a daughter!” thought (especially since my son is more than enough exuberance for this mama), but there it was, again, as I looked at them. And your son is a cutie-patootie, too!

I’ll have to consider adding my son to the WIWW extravaganza since his current favorite outfit is quite handsome.

I admire your continued determination to get dressed every day. I am a write-at-home homeschooling mom, too, and I don’t always make it out of loungewear. Your outfit is great.

    Great post!

Hey, I tried to email you but it didn’t work.
My first entry (#89) I accidentally linked to someone else’s blog for some strange reason. I couldn’t figure out how to delete that entry so I just added another one. But I was just going to see if its possible if you can delete #89? If not, no worries I guess I am just up there twice.

Lilly is soo stinkin’ cute! Reminds me so much of my daughter. I love love love your boots! Gorgeous.

  26. 27

First time linking up to you. I love how your story is almost identical to mine.
And I too always write where I got each item and also talk about what I did that day so the readers can see it is real and that I really wore this and not just for photos…

    Can’t wait to follow you…

  27. 28

OOOOHHHHHH….. You still get to wear boots…… It was 90 today in Baton Rouge. my booys have been packed for a month now.

  28. 29

Lily is adorable! The new top is so cute and so are your boots!. My boots are now buried at the back of my closet. Like the comment above, it’s in the 90s here in TX and there’s no sign of cooler weather until fall. I love how you can wear jeans and cardis year-round. I miss that about living on the west coast. I’d have a heat stroke if I did that now ;) Did you see you almost have 175 link-ups? Wow!!!
