art party {part 2, art lessons}

for part 1 (all the decorations)  click here.

i forgot to show you the invitations last week – here’s a little instagram pic for you!

when each of the girls arrived, we let them choose their own color smock.  my mom and i made these last minute and i am so happy we did them!  the heart pockets were my favorite detail.

this is such a fun age!  all the girls were all for participating:  from wearing the smocks, to taking silly pictures, to doing the art lesson.  i have a bunch of yardage of this great yellow chevron fabric because i’m going to make my newest nephew’s bedding soon.  i hung it up on a wall in the playroom and let the girls be as goofy as they wanted.  they all had a lot of fun with their little photo shoot!

for the first time ever, i hired out for this party.  and it was soooo worth it!  allysa, the teacher, came in and brought all the supplies and had everything set up for each little artist.  she was so great with each of the girls and encouraged them to be creative with their projects – sea horses!

and of course, there was cake.  i know everyone has done a rainbow cake, but i loved it!  thanks again to jeannett for all your guidance!

    Lindsey @HarpersvilleHome says:

    Hi Lindsay! I have stalked these two art party posts for the last few months and must admit (bashfully) that I totally copied your theme and ideas for my daughter’s second birthday. It was a little less structured, I had to do a few things different for toddlers obviously but I still wanted to thank you for sharing this idea (as well as all your other wonderfully creative ones.) They bring GREAT help to the non-creative like myself!! Everyone LOVED it and I continued to reference you and your blog the entire party as credit!! :) My daughter is so into coloring and painting and it was the perfect thing for her. I’m doing a post to recap today so I just wanted to make sure that was ok to link back to you and share all that we did th. My blog is private so I guess you can’t see unless you want to register (I’d like that actually! :) ) but I did want to let you know anyway and thank you here! :) Have a great day!
