life rearranged

 linking up once again with jeannett, posting my phone pics to give you a different peek into my week.

 we have been spending hours and hours prepping our homeschool room.  finally, i feel ready – physically, but not so much emotionally.  this year i am homeschooling all 3 kids – aaaaah!

 and you turn your body just a smidge and you are in my “studio”.  ha!  looks so inspiring and like a productive space, right?  ugh.  i have since spent hours in this space and it is so much better now.  not perfect, but better.  well usable, at least.

 ah, school supplies!  all clean and organized – so nice.  we have tried so many different ways to store our supplies and so far this is working.  i have everything needed daily in the middle of the table in our school room.  we tried each kid having their own supplies in their desk, or all on one desk, but that never worked.  but this is all easily accessible and fully stocked, so here’s to hoping it  still works in a few weeks!

 gracie has been wanting to try sculpting more and more lately.  she had a gift certificate to an art store and finally decided on some sculpting clay.  she made a roman bust for her first project.  i love the hairy chest and the toga!

 sean and i had 30 minutes after dropping of the kids with a sitter before we had a school meeting.  sushi fit the bill for us perfectly.  its quick, its yummy, and its romantic.  we have a sushi restaurant we go to semi frequently so the chefs are starting to recognize us.  and they are starting to give us special surprise plates to try, which is always fun!  this night we were given 2 new treats – score!

not only have i been exercising every day (day 12 of the 30 day shred!), but i have also tried to eat healthier.  we already have smoothies nearly every day, but we’ve been boosting them lately with 2 heaping handfuls of spinach in addition to all the frozen and fresh fruit.  i tried adding oatmeal and it was actually really yummy!  i am going to add flax meal next.  my friend molly gave me the lowdown on flax seed: “Make sure you buy flax meal or prepare to grind the flax seed. You have to crack it open to get all its goodness and our chewing doesn’t suffice. Meal is the best, or fresh ground. {And, keep it in the fridge/freezer once open/ground.}”  it’s so nice to have smart friends!

we finished homeschool early on our first day and celebrated by going to the beach.  can i just say how much i love going to the beach now with my kids?!  they are so easy there!  and this year, with them all doing so well in swim lessons again, i feel even more confident with them in the water alone (don’t worry, i’m within bolting distance to catch any stragglers).  they all are just learning to boogie board and are loving it!

we call this corn dogging:  wet one’s body in the ocean the proceed to roll one’s self in the sand until entire body is covered in sand.  dip and repeat.

this is a usual no-no because sand gets in ever.crevice.imaginable. but i was feeling generous, so i said yes to corn dogging.  mom points for me!

    Were you homeschooled? I wasn’t but we are now in our third year homeschooling our four kids. I hate that we are always making changes. It makes me feel like we are presenting an unstable way of doing things to our kids. I tell my hubby that I hate that I am a first generation homeschooler. Although, I guess that is the way life goes. You think you have it down and God opens your eyes to something else in your life that needs changing…works the same with home organization I guess!

    Your smoothie sounds interesting…I’ve never added spinach to my fruit smoothies. Is it really tasty?!

    Look at those beautiful children :) and that surf. Ahhh.

    I make smoothies every morning with spinach and love them!!! I also toss in milled flax seed (or you can use oil, too). I buy the Hodgkin Mills brand – its all ground up nice and fine. 2TB per blender full!

    I love the 30 day shred. It makes me sweat like a maniac! Thanks for the tips on flax seed. I had no idea, and my husband tried it a while back but after reading this, I don’t think he was really getting ANY of the nutrients! haha
