what i wore wednesday

sooo, how did you all do with last week’s challenge?  i was lousy at it!  i realized i have very few floral items, and almost none of them worked with anything i have that is striped!  instead i still pushed myself and paired up stripes with polka dots and a bloom belt – that’s floral, right?

cardi – old navy

dress & jeans – forever 21

sandals – wlamart

bloom belt – the pleated poppy

this is how i’ve been wearing my hair a lot, and i’m pretty happy with the look and the ease of styling it.  3 buns, secured with bobbies.

we had a random chilly day where the fog didn’t break through until the afternoon.

sweater – forever 21

top – target

tank under – forever 21

jeans – local shop

flops – rainbow

a little sumpin’ i picked up at the queen bee, made by miss emily sparks.  check out her site – she also makes the cutest itty bitty baby crocheted headbands!

sunday sunday

top & sweater – banana republic

trouser jeans – target

sandals – mervyns

bracelet – gift

headband – allora handmade

petal drop necklace – the pleated poppy

sweater – target

tank – hand-me-down

jeans – hand-me-down

sandals – local shop

belt – ??? target?

i tried placing a belt higher up on my waist, but it didn’t look right.  i am the same size from my chest to my hips, no curves, no variation, so adding a belt kind of emphasizes the lack of something to emphasize.

necklace – allora handmade

are you up for another challenge?  i was thinking… how about pull out some items from your closet that you never wear.  you should like them, of course, but you just haven’t figured out how to wear it.  or wear something thats old and wear it in a new way.  push yourself to try new things!  i’m going to do my best to use what i’ve got and make it work (a la tim gunn)!

link up below.  please only link up actual outfit posts and link back to me por favor!  no randoms please!

Hey lady! I love the outfits! I didn’t mix prints this week but I did last week. :) I had to laugh at your comment about the belt and being the same size up and down. I am too. Waist? What is that?? That blue looks amazing on you and you got in some great outfits! Xo

Lindsey, I love how you always give me something to stew on. For so long I’ve envied all the adorable styles that your cute little body could wear. It never ever dawned on me that your shape is so straight that belts are harder for you. Thank you for reminding me that the grass isn’t greener, just different. HUGS!

  8. 8

    Woot woot! WIWW time! :)
Not sure about the linky so I’ll just include the link to my post down below.

LOVE your challenge for this week– will definitely be doing this! Thanks so much :)

Here’s my (what I wore Wednesday) confession :/

  38. 38

I’m in on the challenge! That is why I started doing WIWW. I pushes me to try something new and different! I love it!
I love your color combinations! I’m on the hunt for a cardigan the color of your Banana Republic one. I loved the flower you combined with it last week!

    Thanks for the link party!

  39. 39

I did a striped top with a posy pin…that was about as floraly and stripey as I could get :)

  40. 40

So cute! I love that white striped cardi. I wasn’t great about mixing patterns this week (or taking pics).

  41. 41

This is my first week linking up, so I hope I did this right!!

  42. 42

All of your accessories are too cute! Great week of outifts. I’m a little jealous of the cool weather. We’re still in a brutal heatwave and my clothes reflect that–lots of tank tops and shorts.

  43. 43

Uh oh, Linky isn’t working? Here’s my 34th week of maternity WIWW. I go through your challenge every day of finding something in my closet that I need to figure out how to wear. :)

  44. 44

I’m not seeing the linky party, but here is my link anyway!

  45. 45

    Hi! Here’s mine too! http://lifebytheskein.blogspot.com/2011/08/some-new-clothes.html

  75. 75

  76. 76

    You are so stylish Lindsey!
Love your ideas! ( Hope you don’t mind if I steal them ;) )

  77. 77

I’m the same way with my belts! I cant’ ever decide where they go!

  78. 78

I still love the dots and the stripes and the bloom belt. That counts in my mind!!!
I started the 21 Day Challenge (via Freckles in April) and today’s challenge is just that…to mix patterns. I am having a heck of a time. Maybe not so much if it was fall or winter, but when its 80, I am not about to layer. And I don’t have any of those gorgeous floral skirts and striped skirts that you see all over pinterest. Sigh. I guess I need to branch out when I shop?

  79. 79
  80. 80

  89. 89

Hi Lindsay! Hope you are well! You look adorable… as always. :)

  90. 90

You are so adorable! I LOVE your hair!

    Here’s my WIW post:

  91. 91

I tried, I really did- to do the pattern mixing challenge. This week was such a bust for photos and cute outfits. I’m definitely reaching to the back of my closet for some inspiration for next week! PS I love how simple and beautiful your outfits always are! You ROCK!

  92. 92

So sorry. I linked my WW post like a dingaling. Feel free to delete. I clicked from another WW and was on the phone when I entered it. lol. Just wanted to tell you that you are a doll. Wish I was half as stylish. Glad I dumbed my way over here.

  93. 93

In the summer I try to do a messy side bun that I hold together with a pony tail elastic. I can never get hair pins of any sort to actually stay in my hair. Loved the green flower necklace.

  94. 94

Love your three little baby buns!

  95. 95

LOVE your headbands and your necklaces. Your accessories are almost always my favorite things about your posts. But I also loved the outfit with the grey sweater/cardigan!

And your hairdo is very cute!

  96. 96

totally adore the first outfit (all of them are fab but that one’s my favorite) and your hair looks too cute in the three buns! i’ve tried it and i feel like my hair is too long and always ends up looking messy, but you rock it!

  97. 97

I have the same gray sweater from Forever 21-love it! I found a pretty blue one almost like it so I snagged it too. Love how they look good with jeans or dresses and keep you warm when the Northwest weather is chilly. You always look cute! Thanks for your blog-maybe I’ll actually take pics and take part someday soon…

  98. 98

So I apologize this doesn’t have really anything to do with WIWW (I’m kind of a fashion disaster these days But you sure do give me inspiration!!) But I was just wondering when you think you’ll be posting more Bloom Bags & Belts?? My bday is coming up in September and I going to try and convince my husband to get me one!! (Or both would be nice!)

  99. 99

I’m loving your outfits – I think the belt looks great! LOVE that crochet hair piece!!

  100. 100

I like your 3-bun-hairdo. I may give that a try, cause it is HOT here, and the hair has got to be up everyday all the time. And, I think I need some headbands!

  101. 101

You look adorable!! I may have to link up next week…shocker, but I love a good challenge!!

  102. 102

Love this post and all the great outfits! I’m totally going to participate soon!

  103. 103

Ruffles really help a straight figured girl – especially a little ruffle at the chest area or tiers at the chest area (tiers are really in right now it seems). Some cute ideas! Not sure about the outfit with the rather shapeless, large gray sweather from f21 – makes you look huge and you are tiny. I’d swap that for a cute shorter cardi in a raspberry or other bright color. Love to visit your posts.

  104. 104

I love this party, and I’m happy to finally get it together enough to participate :)

I’m loving your ruffled top from Banana Republic – so cute!
Excited about the challenge for next week…Make it work!
    Thanks for hostessing :)

  105. 105

Opps so sorry for the multiple linkups… I was having computer problems something obviously went wrong. My apologizes, feel free to delete the duplications, I tried but I couldn’t figure it out.

  106. 106

I’ve been eying {that looks funny… is it “eyeing”??} one of those headbands by emily sparks ever since i saw them on etsy. LOVE them. Was going to attempt to make one, but they’ll be out of style when I get to it at 60. Guess I’ll be getting one of hers!
