what i wore wednesday

August 17, 2011

sooo, how did you all do with last week’s challenge?  i was lousy at it!  i realized i have very few floral items, and almost none of them worked with anything i have that is striped!  instead i still pushed myself and paired up stripes with polka dots and a bloom belt – that’s floral, right?

cardi – old navy

dress & jeans – forever 21

sandals – wlamart

bloom belt – the pleated poppy

this is how i’ve been wearing my hair a lot, and i’m pretty happy with the look and the ease of styling it.  3 buns, secured with bobbies.

we had a random chilly day where the fog didn’t break through until the afternoon.

sweater – forever 21

top – target

tank under – forever 21

jeans – local shop

flops – rainbow

a little sumpin’ i picked up at the queen bee, made by miss emily sparks.  check out her site – she also makes the cutest itty bitty baby crocheted headbands!

sunday sunday

top & sweater – banana republic

trouser jeans – target

sandals – mervyns

bracelet – gift

headband – allora handmade

petal drop necklace – the pleated poppy

belt – ??? target?

i tried placing a belt higher up on my waist, but it didn’t look right.  i am the same size from my chest to my hips, no curves, no variation, so adding a belt kind of emphasizes the lack of something to emphasize.

are you up for another challenge?  i was thinking… how about pull out some items from your closet that you never wear.  you should like them, of course, but you just haven’t figured out how to wear it.  or wear something thats old and wear it in a new way.  push yourself to try new things!  i’m going to do my best to use what i’ve got and make it work (a la tim gunn)!

    Lindsey, I love how you always give me something to stew on. For so long I’ve envied all the adorable styles that your cute little body could wear.     Oh yes and talk about cold day, Sunday and Monday morn. here (Ontario, we live a mile off lake Huron) We were in hoodies and coats. I guess we are not the only ones with strange weather.

    I still love the dots and the stripes and the bloom belt. That counts in my mind!!!
    I started the 21 Day Challenge (via Freckles in April) and today’s challenge is just that…to mix patterns. I am having a heck of a time. Maybe not so much if it was fall or winter, but when its 80, I am not about to layer. And I don’t have any of those gorgeous floral skirts and striped skirts that you see all over pinterest. Sigh. I guess I need to branch out when I shop?

    In the summer I try to do a messy side bun that I hold together with a pony tail elastic. I can never get hair pins of any sort to actually stay in my hair. Loved the green flower necklace.

    LOVE your headbands and your necklaces. Your accessories are almost always my favorite things about your posts. But I also loved the outfit with the grey sweater/cardigan!

    totally adore the first outfit (all of them are fab but that one’s my favorite) and your hair looks too cute in the three buns! i’ve tried it and i feel like my hair is too long and always ends up looking messy, but you rock it!

    I have the same gray sweater from Forever 21-love it! I found a pretty blue one almost like it so I snagged it too. Love how they look good with jeans or dresses and keep you warm when the Northwest weather is chilly. You always look cute!     Ruffles really help a straight figured girl – especially a little ruffle at the chest area or tiers at the chest area (tiers are really in right now it seems). Some cute ideas! Not sure about the outfit with the rather shapeless, large gray sweather from f21 – makes you look huge and you are tiny. I’d swap that for a cute shorter cardi in a raspberry or other bright color. Love to visit your posts.

    I’ve been eying {that looks funny… is it “eyeing”??} one of those headbands by emily sparks ever since i saw them on etsy. LOVE them. Was going to attempt to make one, but they’ll be out of style when I get to it at 60. Guess I’ll be getting one of hers!
