family weekend

we skipped town last week on wednesday and headed up to my parents’ house (my childhood home) in bass lake, for a long weekend to celebrate my paternal gram’s 90th birthday (it was a surprise).

it was wonderful.  and relaxing.  and refreshing. and fulfilling (literally – i never felt hunger. so.much.food.).

highlights:

2,500 pieces of puzzles

mud baths for the kids

balance board competitions

dance competitions on the wii

speed scrabble

fire in the wood-burning stove

strawberry margaritas

hiking

searching for lady bug patches

snuggling my new nephew to sleep

eating yummy food, like my brother’s black bean salsa, mom’s caesar salad, oreo cookie pancakes, apple crisp pancakes, coffee cake, ribs, and s’mores bars.

lots of cousin time, for both the kids and adults

rocket launching

potato gun shooting

raccoon climbing into our kitchen and eating our food

sleeping in

staying up late

playing catch phrase

getting a sparkly pedi from my sister-in-law

just being with my sister (she lives in australia)

have a very happy week, friends!

ps – new items will be up in the shop later today… after grocery shopping and laundry!

Honestly my first thought upon seeing all those ladybugs was “it looks like a pestilence!” Looks like you all had the perfect time away. I love seeing other close-knit families. Thats very rare nowadays(I sound like Im so old saying that).

BTW, my husband’s family had a cottage up on Lake Michigan where they would spend their summers and his family is obsessed with puzzles. When we went their one summer the fam. all brought puzzles after puzzles. Sorry all you cottagers, I just can’t get into the puzzles. After I do the edges, I’m done.
