christmas house tour

seeing as its DECEMBER 22ND (!!!!), i figured it might be time to show you my decorated house!

my entryway makes me happy.

(dresser is called french pale gold by behr)

i picked up this little friend at the queen bee market, made by the ever-so-talented misfit menagerie.

i adore it.

a grapevine wreath with a feather boa wrapped around it, a bow tied, and a pretty little star ornament dangling.

a cake plate filled with ornaments, and a couple footed bowls filled with my diamond collection.

or maybe fake plastic crystals.

our costco tree.  still love fake.  still love not watering it, or picking up dead needles.

we just do ball ornaments, picture frames, and the kids’ christmas ornaments (stars, snowflakes, and reindeer – my mom gets them each one each year).

i love looking at the pictures in the frames because so many of them are from years ago – look!  sean had hair!

and i gave up on the perfectly balanced tree.  silas really wanted it to look like it snowed on this part of the tree, and i decided i didn’t care.  and every time i walk by that side of the tree i smile :)

our picture ledges got a little christmas update.

with ornaments in the jars.  simple.

by the way, my mom helped me with most of my decorating.  we were frantically decorating the house to have it done in time for the holiday stitch market.

ornaments hanging from my chandelier.  i made the yarn wrapped ornaments last year.

so clearly, i pretty much only decorate with ornaments!

this tray sits in the middle of our dining table, filled with the necessities.

gracie made the horse and i love it!  the little bow dresses it up a bit.

more bowls with ornaments.

and my christmas cards.

i’m still shocked that we get christmas cards from our friends and family (but very thankful) because we haven’t sent out our own since gracie was 1 1/2!

i put them on this store display thing i picked up years ago at a garage sale and have used for boutique displays.  i think after christmas i’ll use it for my instagram pics!

the living room.

the furniture has to be rearranged to fit the tree, so the couches are actually touching and crossing over each other in the corners, but there’s no other way to fit!

i was going for a slightly over-the-top and gaudy look this year for my mantle swag.  i think it worked.

where i failed was in my nativity scene!  i had some of my mantle trees around it and they wee too bright and funky for how mellow the set is.  but i figured out what i want to do next year:

                                                                                                                                                                        Source: via lindsey on Pinterest

how cute would these be hanging all around the set?!

next year…

i bought these white fur stockings before we even had kids at kmart.  back when all my christmas decorates were white and silver.  still love them.

i want to keep adding to my tree collection each year – i love the random mix.  i was hoping to make some of these this year, but never got around to it:

                                                                                                                                                                      Source: via lindsey on Pinterest

these would fit perfectly, don’t you think?

just one more look.

the garland: paper chain, silver icicles, cut crystal garland, plastic snowflakes, and a paper “believe” sign.

i intended to make a pompom garland with thrifted yarn, but forgot.

next year.

my paternal grandmother saved christmas cards for years and organized them by subject: angels, trees, santa…

a couple years ago we had a craft day making garlands out of the cards – love!

and even the top of our entertainment center got some attention this year, with garland and ornaments.

so there’s the house, thanks for coming and

merry christmas!

here are some past christmases: 2008, 20092010

Today I wrote a post on the dreaded question that may crop up in the next few years from your kiddos (too young right now). If you like to take a peek at my own story, I’ve included the link. You’ll also read about a new revelation I had on the subject just recently. Merry Christmas!

aww lindsey your house looks so very festive. I tweeted today asking if two babies count for christmas decor?! we don’t even have our tree up….and i miss not seeing my nativity set (the same as yours). maybe I’ll go crawl up in the attic right now and find just a few favorites to put up. but the two foster babies are cute and could totally count I think!!

I love the feat of creating a home that looks busy (filled and colorful) but simple at the same time. Great balance. Lovely birthday for Jesus to you!

  26. 26

Your house is very festive looking!! I love it! We didn’t get around to doing too much decorating this year. Our 18 mo old is a terror when it comes to taking the decor apart so I didn’t even bother really.
