sweater update

so i had this cute sweater, that i really loved.  super cheap from old navy a couple years ago.  it buttoned at the neck and was super cute and had an asymmetrical front flap.

but that flap bugged.  i spent all day readjusting it so it would lay flat on my stomach rather than spreading open like a sweater would if i were pregnant.  nobody wants to look pregnant if they aren’t.

so i decided to buy some snaps and just add them to the sweater to hold it shut.

i am a bit of what you may call a procrastinator, or one-who-starts-projects-and-never-finishes-them.  yes, that’s me.  a perfectly good example:  i started recovering an ottoman  about 2 1/2 years ago and i still haven’t finished.

but this time i did!

i sat in bed and watched some shows and stitched to my heart’s content!  and thankfully, my heart wasn’t content at quitting early – i finished the whole project.  i even defuzzed my sweater!

just a little bit of work for a sweater that is totally new to me now!  i love the random buttons, although i was hoping for some really cool chunky vintage ones, so i’ll just have to keep my eye out for some…

What a GREAT idea!!! I wish I could sew! I envy you! I need to learn ;) P.S. What type of camera do you have and do you like it? We are in the market for a new one…Happy Holidays! Alyssa of Boston Bee

    Super de-duper cute!!

I love your results. Sometimes when I don’t finish a project and leave it mid-stream, I like to think I’m awaiting inspiration to make it even better than I had initially anticipated. 99.9 percent of the time, an idea will hit me about my unfinished project that I hadn’t thought of before and I finish the project even better than had I got it done all at once. I’m loving the buttons – so whimsical!

My daughter has a sweater just like it from Gymboree and everytime she wears it I am jealous! I love the pops of color it has. Needless to say never thought about making my own…headed to Target today for a cheap sweater to reinvent. Thanks for the idea!!!

Really cute! I have this huge cardigan cape thing with no buttons, that is completely open, it’s super cute, but sometimes when I close it shut I look 30 weeks pregnant. It’s kind of a bummer, bc I am in fact not pregnant, so I know how you feel!

Cute. I’m a button replacer. I can’t help it. I’m also a procrastinator, hence, all the buttonless sweaters.

You’re so smart, Lindsey! Love to see a cute AND functional solution to a clothing dilemma. GIves me inspiration to not loose heart on a favourite clothing item that may just need a little “fix” to make it new again.

  16. 16

Love it, Lindsey! I have the same one in green! I’ve never noticed the flap bothering me, but perhaps I should look in a mirror once in a while. The snaps might be a good idea for me too!

i have the same sweater in brown. i wear it when i know i am going to eat an insane amount of holiday goodness… it conceals my pregnant with food figure (at least i think it does…don’t tell me if it doesn’t).

  18. 18

LOVE IT! it gave me so many ideas for my sweaters. thank you ;)

  19. 19

I love what you did to the sweater! And congrats on finishing a long-awaited project. I’ve been meaning to hem a skirt I thrifted 2 months ago, and I finally did it today. It feels sooooo good! So, cheers to those nagging to-do projects out of the way!
