what i wore wednesday

welcome to “what i wore wednesday”!  this is a little post i started forever ago to keep myself accountable.  as a stay-at-home mom, it was really easy for me to stay in my pj’s all day long.  or if i had to go out in public, i’d get all dressed up in my sweats and a baseball hat.  i started taking pictures of myself, the good and the bad, to try to stay accountable to putting in some effort into my appearances.  not that appearances are the most important thing, but it sure does make a difference on how i feel throughout the day if i am dressed.  over time, i have learned some tricks about dressing comfortably with a little style, that style can be affordable, and that a few accessories make a big difference!

lazy day around the house – barely got dressed to head out with my mom for a bit.

sweater & t – forever 21

hat & jeans – old

shoes – sanuk

necklace – lisa leonard designs

tank, jeans, and flats – target

dress – forever 21

under dress – goodwill

necklace – lisa leonard designs

sushi with my parents, then date night for sean and i

the weather was wacky and clearly confused my kids as well!

jacket – anthro (gift)

under dress – goodwill

jeans, socks and boots – target

ruffled scarf, posy pin, and petal pusher – the pleated poppy

church

top & necklace – forever 21

cardi, jeans, and flats – target

belt – stolen from a coat

i love buying accessories from forever 21 – this necklace was maybe $5?

kids at school/work day

both shirts – target

jeans – forever 21

boots – steven madden

necklace – allora handmade

i started the day off with a belt around my waist.  i liked it at first, but then it was bugging me and i decided i liked it better off anyway!

so i’ve been pinning a ton of outfits i’d like to try lately on pinterest.  do you follow me?  you should ;)

i’m going to really challenge myself next week to try new things and create as many of the outfits i’ve pinned as possible (without buying new clothes, of course!).  wanna try with me?

link up with me this week, just follow a few rules!

1. link to your specific blog post, not your blog’s main page. ex: http://thepleatedpoppy.com/2011/09/what-i-wore-wednesday-fall-inspiration/ not http://thepleatedpoppy.com/blog/.
2. please only link outfit related posts. your craft project may be adorable, or that may be a great giveaway, but this linky is for outfit related posts only – thank you!
3. please link back here to me so all this wiww stuff makes sense to your readers. and its just nice to do ;) grab a button from my sidebar (see the code box?).
4. check out as many links as possible! i am constantly inspired by so many outfits each week! and you will definitely find some new blogs that you’ve never stumbled upon before – so fun!
i’m also linking up with nina of momma go round for “real momma, real style” – join me there, mkay?

    Love your second outfit!

  22. 22

So sweet! I’ve got to dig through my closet to get more creative (and take some better photos :-))

  23. 23

This is my first week doing WIWW but I am looking to better utilize what is in my closet and just develop my own style better. To date, I’ve worn what I like which looks fine, but I would like to add a bit more style & flair to my wardrobe. Looking forward to WIWW in the future. Should be interesting since I usually work from home, and rarely actually need to dress up for anything special. Maybe I should just be dressing up for myself… ;)

  24. 24

So many great looks this week. I love them all!! I just can’t pick a favorite. :)

  25. 25

You look amazing! Love the scarf and your kids are super cute!

Goodness Lindsey! Your outfits are all SO CUTE!! (and your kids are too!) Loved the coat!

  28. 28

I’ve been doing the same thing w/ pinterest! I really try not to pin too much of what I don’t have, but try and pin things that resemble things I have and can work with.

  29. 29

Do you have a post about that family rules canvas behind you in one of your pictures? I love it! And of course your outfits too! : )

  30. 30

Lindsey, how do you manage to just get cuter all the time! Your outfits are ADORABLE, especially on you! ;)

  31. 31

p.s. I want the family rules canvas too. (heh!)

  32. 32

  33. 33

I am a little late to the party, but so excited to be here! :)

    LOVE YOUR STYLE.

    xx Suz

  34. 34

Hello, love your style!! I wish I lived in California and not KS right now when I see you in your cute sleeveless stuff….

Have you told us how you made your “family rules” sign that you have in the background of your last WiW pic this week? I would love to see a closer pic of it and how you made it/where you found it. It is a good way to add lots of color….and we need rules now that I have a 5 year old…thanks!!

  35. 35

Yay!! I’ve been away from blogland for awhile, so excited to see this is still going. After baby, I’m definitely in need of some outfit motivation :) Will link up next week!

  36. 36

Oh, I love this link up!

Style posts don’t fit in the niche of my current work-life balance & personal/professional development blog, but I’m planning to launch a second blog about beauty, confidence & style in which I will post outfit posts once a week or so. I look forward to joining the link up regularly when the new blog is launched!
