hey friends! welcome to what i wore wednesday, or wiww. this is a weekly linky party for those of us who want to get out of the yoga pants rut and feel a little better about ourselves by putting in a few extra minutes to get dressed in our morning routine.
my morning routine has consisted of searching my pinterest wiww board. its getting pathetic. i walk in my closet and stare. then i walk to my computer and stare at outfits i’ve pinned. i choose one that i think i have almost everything for, and i give it a shot. as i experienced this week, sometimes its a hit, and other times it’s definitely a miss. but i’m going to be real with you here and show you an outfit that for me was a real miss!
this was the first outfit i tried. cute, right? simple? yes. i had the racerback black tank, the cream v neck cardigan, and a brown belt.
when i got dressed in the morning, the outfit just didn’t feel right. i didn’t have the toms, although sean almost bought them for me for my birthday, but got me my beloved converse instead. i tried another pair of cream tennies and they just didn’t make sense with the outfit, so i went with the black flats, which i now see were very wrong. and the jeans were a little baggy looking with the fitted shirt. i had to add the scarf because it was all so blah!
now this outfit was a little easier to do!
my cuffed jeans are a really light denim and i like the dark denim better, so i just cuffed my skinnies. besides, my cuffed jeans are too tight on the belly so i have to do the early pregnancy trick of looping a hair elastic through the button hole. and i’m not pregnant.
and i don’t have red flats, but i thought the yellow flats did the same job. this was a super easy and comfy outfit!
ok, now i know i just said i wasn’t pregnant, and this photo says otherwise, but i swear i’m not! i’m just going to blame it on 3 things: 1) the lighting hits in a funny place, 2) i don’t think the choice to wear the bloom belt that high was a good one, and 3) i forgot to suck it in for the picture.
there’s no pinterest pic for this outfit, but i did get some of the idea from a girl i saw in walmart. “that explains it”, you’re saying to your self now ;) this young 20’s girl had on the cutest outfit, so cute i almost wanted to tell her, but i had already been dissecting her outfit for so long i didn’t want to come off as creepier. she had on a short strapless dress with a fitted t under, leggings and boots, with a belt and it was so cute.
i just got this dress, which can also convert into a skirt, for our trip to india since i didn’t have any long skirts. i am not comfortable with strapless tops, even with a cardigan over, since things tend to fall down on me. not sure why, i’ll blame the kids ;)
so i layered the dress/skirt over a fitted tee i got at forever 21, with boots and a bloom belt (that reminds me – i need to make more!). i liked the outfit without the belt, too, but the belt definitely added a lot to it.
did you try anything new this week? i’d love to see, just follow a few rules!
