subtle st. patty’s day decor

i pulled down the valentine’s decorates and needed to put something in its place.

silas is super excited for “clover day” as he calls it, although he is clearly clueless about st. patrick’s day!

i just pulled some green goodies out of my cupboards and off my shelves and put this display together in about 10 minutes.  it felt too easy!

i was going for subtle decorations, nothing that screamed shamrocks too strongly (although the kids and i are working on a shamrock project right now!).

i love the mix of all the shades of green and a little milk glass to balance it out!

pulling out collected books, thrifted and otherwise, was fun to see the colors together!

i made these paper balls years ago to welcome a new pastor’s wife to our church.  i used a great tutorial from heather bailey’s site.  these balls have been used so many times – on dowels as topiaries, and just propped on a shelf.

i also added a small white urn with moss tucked inside.

i threw in some orchids we’ve had on our window sill and put them in green pots, one terra cotta and one tin.

so how about you?  do you decorate for st. patty’s day, skip it all together, or go subtle?

Love it! I would love to hire you out to come redo my mantle. LOL! We’ve go the same set up with the TV mounted above the fireplace, and I am always at a loss for what to put up there. Yours looks so springy and happy :)

    I love it!

I love it! Your decorations are always so lovely! Thanks for sharing. :)

We usually just wear green, it is my mother in laws birthday on St. party’s day. I get through valentines day and I’m ready for my everyday decorations. I do fall things, Halloween, Christmas, winter, valentines…I guess I get to where I’m ready to decorate outside with flowers! Lol
I love the luggage above your fireplace.

We usually only decorate ourselves on St. Patty’s Day! But…your decor is subtle and sweet. I bought our little foster baby a shirt that says ‘kiss me i’m irish’….he really isn’t irish at all…he is mexican and so it gave me such a giggle. i say he is a little bit irish while living in this kennedy home!! :)

Very subtle and pretty! With the help of picnik, I printed a black/white photo of our family walking and printed the Irish Blessing on top of it for our entry way table (to replace Valentines Day subway art). With some green candles :)

perfect…subtle but you can tell you are celebrating st. patty’s day!

Yep, we decorate a little but what we do big is have a party. Best meal of the year!

That is awesome! I’ve been trying to come up with some “subtle” ways to decorate for spring. My main decor colors are red, black, and metallic: not exactly colors that blend well with spring-y pastels. This post has my mental wheels turning!

Cute mantle. It is St. Paddy’s day, by the way.
