what i wore wednesday

happy 5 years of blogging to me!  i will do something to celebrate, i promise… any ideas?

if you’re new here, every week, me and a couple hundred of my best friends (wink wink) get together and keep each other accountable by showing what we wore for the week.  i started this as an effort to get out of my “lounge wear” (fancy words for pj’s or yoga pants) and put just a little effort into myself.  not only has it worked to motivate me to get dressed in the morning, but its also fun!  i’m trying new things and mixing up clothes i thought i’d grown tired of.  i hope you’ll join in, too!

date night!  well, technically my sister was with, but i still call that a date!

tank – old navy clearance (blame the new clothes on my sister)

sweater – gap

jeans – target

boots – steve madden

because i’m always cold, i had to layer a long sleeved t under my tank.

the necklace was a gift from a friend years ago.  still love it.

what?!?!  yes, thats me.  in workout clothes.  and i actually worked out!  a new pair of running pants motivated me to get back at it and i’m hating every minute of it! (if you use exclamation points, you don’t sound as grumpy)  but seriously,  this stinks.  i used to run, a few years ago, but gave it up because, well because i don’t enjoy it and like sleep so much more.  but i need to take care of myself and running is the most logical thing for me.   so i went yesterday for a couple miles.  and i was aching by the time i went to bed.  woke up today in immense pain, decided another run might stretch out my muscles a bit more and loosen me up.  i ran until the hurt stopped and then i realized i still had to run back home – gah!  i felt good once i got home and then the pain set in.  like i-can’t-get-up pain.  like i walk around the house like i’m walking on hot coals, super awkward and stiff.  stink.

shoes – running wharehouse

pants – forever 21

zippered top – walmart

ear warmer – target (little boy’s section)

you know those days where you feel good about how you look and then you see yourself in a picture and change your mind?  yeah, this was one of those days!

the bad picture doesn’t help.

top & wedges – old navy

cardi & trousers – target

necklace – forever 21

bracelet – stacy lynn

i am loving this new necklace, though!

why am i standing so awkward?  because i can’t stand normal – it hurts too much!

why don’t i have on shoes?  because that would require bending over, which i cannot do!

top – forever 21

pants – crazy old, old navy

and just for fun, i added these new ipad cases into my shop!  they have lots of goodies that coordinate with and are so fun!

wanna link up with me?  yay!  just follow the rules:

    Love those boots!!

I feel your pain, I just got back to exercising myself and I’m aching everywhere :P

  3. 3

Happy 5th. How exciting!! I love the striped top from ON and that necklace from F21 is super adorbs!

  4. 4

Oh and P.S. You always look adorable…no matter what you are wearing!

  5. 5

Happy blog-iversary! Your least favorite outfit is my most favorite. I really love the stripes and the necklace together.

  6. 6

Happy Anniversary! I like all the outfits! I feel your pain with the running…literally. I just started running myself (ok, running is a bit much, mine is more like brisk walking with a little bit of jogging mixed in). But, running is not fun! The pain is not fun! But, being healthy is a good thing.
I used your exclamation point idea, so as not to sound too grumpy. :)

  7. 7

Happy Anniversary! Sorry you can’t bend over or stand normally. Though, I didn’t notice you were standing strangely:-) I’m assuming your back is bothering you because that is exactly how I feel when mine is acting up. Sympathy radiating here for you. BTW Your first outfit and the one I chose to post to your WIWW are very similar:-) – Kalli – Life Exquisite

  8. 8

Happy #5! May this be the best year yet!

So sorry about your pain. I wonder if you pinched a nerve? I have had a similar thing that I totally blame on my baby because I try not to run — ever unless it is to the store for chocolate.

Praying it heals quickly, so hard when mama is in pain!

  9. 9

Happy 5 years. I love the outfit in the stripped top. I know you weren’t crazy about it but it looks very cute.

  10. 10

You’re better than me….I detest running. So I don’t do it.

  11. 11

Happy blogiversary! I can totally relate to the aches and pains. Wait for it…mine aren’t from running but just how I feel when my old body creaks out of the bed or sits too long! Yeah, fun. Age. I gots it. I LOVE the new ON tank and I think you look AMAZINGLY wonderful in the red stripes.

  12. 12

You are so cute. And I love your new haircut/color. And I love the new iPad cases. I’m enjoying mine! :-) Keep running. It will get better. :-)

  13. 13

Wow! 5 years…that’s a biggie! Congrats to you and here is to many more years of success!

  14. 14

Happy 5th blog anniversary! And it’s so funny you said you didn’t like how you look in that outfit because before I even read that comment I was thinking, “Wow, she looks awesome. I love that all pulled together.” So I guess it’s true we are always harder on ourselves. I do love your look…and the fact that you are in clothing that is affordable for most of us is truly inspirational.

  15. 15

Thank you for hosting us. You always have so many great pics. I am happy if I get dressed up and take one good pic each week, but since joining this linky at least I do once a week, so that’s better then nothing right?

  16. 16

I love the outfit with the striped shirt! It’s so cute

  17. 17

Love the red and white striped shirt, adorable! The necklace is perfect!
You are so cute- love seeing these pictures each week! Thanks for hosting WWIW!

  18. 18

haha! I love your whole explanation about why you stopped running. =) That’s exactly why it’s been so hard for me to get back at it! I’m a baby runner, though. A 5k is the most I’ve ever run and that was one time. lol I’m almost back up to two miles though. I’ve got a 5k on May 5th and then I’ll start training for a half marathon! YAY!!! I can’t wait to get that under my belt!

I absolutely LOVE your sparkly tank and your pink F21 necklace AND your cute casual cuffed jeans look. Pretty much, you’re always adorable. =)

  19. 19

I absolutely love your sailor girl ensemble! Too cute. Thank you for hosting.

  20. 20

    Love the necklace!

i love the outfit with the red n white striped shirt, the whole outfit is super cute! can’t figure out what you don’t like about it. :)

  22. 22

Love your cute clothes and style! Recently found your blog and will be a follower of your WIWW. Agree with another poster that your affordable wardrobe makes me feel like, I can do it too!

  23. 23

Running…wow. Way to go. I am not a runner – at all! I get all out of breath and feel my skin getting hot and blotchy just thinking about it. ;) Here’s a rather humorous post on my running experience. http://www.dearlylovedmist.blogspot.com/2012/03/how-hard-could-running-really-be.html
Your outfits are very cute, by the way!

  24. 24

Have you heard of the Couch to 5k program? It guides you back to running, but slowly, so you don’t get hurt/have too much pain and give up. It really helped me out a lot because as a former college athlete I wanted to just go out and do what I used to be able to do. After having kids, though, not so easy! So, anyway, I followed the program over the winter and now I am running up to 4 miles, and feeling great.

It’s free at this website and I think they have apps and stuff, too.

  25. 25

Love the sequin top and the red top with the necklace! ca-ute!

    Hannah S. says:

Very impressed you are getting back into running… something I need to do. Here are some thing my husband does to help with soreness. Drink chocolate milk within an hour after you are done running. It is a proven recovery drink. It will not take away all your soreness, but it will help. Also, if you lay on the floor and prop your legs up against the wall, it help drains the lactic acid (which causes soreness) out of your leg muscles. Hope that helps. Happy running!

  27. 27

Love the sparkle on your first top!

  28. 28

Happy blogaversary! I love the iPad cases. I’m also happy to hear Im not the only one who hates running. At least you’re doing it though!

  29. 29

Love your cas looks. I had my sparkly tank on yesterday C:

  30. 30

Congrats!!! 5 years is awesome! And for the record, I was totally into the outfit with the striped shirt… I saw it and thought, “Ooohhh that’s super cute. Must have been her church outfit!” before I scrolled down and realized you didn’t like it! Embrace your cute self!!!

  31. 31

Sorry you are so sore! Thats the worst :( your last pic cracked me up, you looked cute though! I told my husband the other day that I wasn’t as achey etc. when I was lazy! What’s up with that?!

  32. 32

I did a yoga video for the first time last night! Needless to say I’m a little sore too! Thanks for hosting!!!

  33. 33

Thanks again for this week! You looked so cute…you totally scored on the Old Navy tank!! LOVE!!
Hope you work through the soreness…I need to get my booty back to working out!!
    Because Shanna Said So

  34. 34

    happy 5 years! that’s awesome!!
and i love your forever21 necklace!

  35. 35

Happy Bloggaversary!! Your outfits are super cute. I hope your running legs feel better soon. My husband has been running this last year. He worked up very slowly and patiently, making sure he could always still “talk” as he ran. He’d slow down if he couldn’t. He’s doing great now.

  36. 36

Happy 5 years to you! As for being sore-drink lots of water and stretch, stretch, stretch. : )

  37. 37

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re in pain, Lindsey!! Does it help to know that you looked fantastic in your outfits? :)

I don’t know if this will help, but I have tried to incorporate exercise into my homeschooling and make it fun as often as possible, like taking nature walks and dancing to music videos. I have gotten out of that habit lately and let my son do yoga by himself, but I’m going to try to use your example to motivate myself to get back to it!

Is there something fun you could do with your kids?

  38. 38

happy 5 years of blogging my friend! you look cutecutecute, as always!

  39. 39

Happy Bloggy-versary:) And I totally get you on the running thing. Hubby and I were in Dicks Sporting Goods on Saturday and I bought a pair of running capris….to motivate me(the whole if you invest something in it you’ll be more prone to do it sort of thing?). I have yet to run because our weather turned nasty cold and raining.(nice excuse I know)

  40. 40

Hi there, a friend if mine told me that you were linking up with other WIWW bloggers and I thought I’d join in on the fun. Do you have to link up each week? Never done this before so I’m not exactly sure how it works. I added this weeks post and linked your post to mine. Thanks!

  41. 41

Haha… I LOVE that you hate running. ME TOO SISTER! I think God is trying to tell me something though because he has place too many running friends in my life! I am digging your highlights and my favorite was that pink striped outfit!!! SO pretty! Hope your week is going well :)

  42. 42

Good girl for running. I have a deep dislike for it as well. I was chilly at the park the other day so I decided to run a few laps around the playset. After about 5 laps, my lungs felt like they were on FIRE. Confirmed it even more that running is not for me.

    Have you thought about pilates or ballet instead? Not cardio, but it gives you a nice lean & toned body {or at least that’s what I’m hoping for!}

  43. 43

Happy bloggerversary! I think you look great in all these outfits, including the one you didn’t like so much.

  44. 44

I just started running again too and am experiencing the same kind of leg pain! Last year at this time I was training for a half marathon and now I’m sore from two miles. Hoping we both have some luck getting back into it! :)

  45. 45

Happy 5th blogaversary!! I may or may not have just sang you a bloggy version of the Birthday song :) I found your blog via Biblical Homemaking a few weeks ago and have been so inspired. Love it!

  46. 46

    Happy 5th Blogiversary!

    That’s quite the milestone!

Oh, and your description of your running soreness cracked me up (especially when you said that you realized you had to run all way back home : )).

I exercise all the time since I teach fitness classes, but I ran 3 miles for the first time in forever at Blissdom actually, and everything hurt afterwards. It was embarrassing how sore I was considering that I consider myself in pretty decent shape!

  47. 47

Love Love Love your Red Necklace… been eyeing a few bolder pieces… I need to just JUMP IN AND BUY ONE ALREADY!

  48. 48

Happy 5 year of blissful blogging! I really like your date night outfit. Those boots are great! And thank you for the wiww link up.

  49. 49
