5 favorite home posts

in honor of my 5 years of blogging, i’m featuring my “5 favorites” this week: 5 favorite tutorials, 5 favorite parties, and now my 5 favorite home posts!

we built our home (technically a remodel that we tore down to the subfloor) about 5 1/2 years ago, and have slowly been adding personal details over the years.  i absolutely love doing home projects, but over the years, adding kids and businesses into the mix, we have less and less time for them.

let’s start with a home tour so you’re familiar with the place, ok?

playroom & studio, living room, dining room, kitchen, kids’ bath, girls’ room, silas’ room, master bedroom,  and the master bath

french door revamp

we gave new life to an old french door to make some wall art!

galvanized countertop

a super inexpensive treatment for counters!

yellow dresser

one of my favorite pieces in my house!

and just for good measure, a few posts to keep it real:  get real & finding beauty in the chaos & how i do it all

Thank goodness for that last pic. It was so neat, so clean, I was beginning to feel guilty.

Hope you can check out my post today. The subject matter is too important not to mention:

Ok, I have loved your house since you first posted about it. I LOVE the color in your main living area. If I remember right you said it was RH Silver Sage….well, when I got the swatch its much greener than it appears in your house on my computer. So my question is, does it look grey to you or does it look like the paint swatch?

Just discovered your blog and have been going back thru ALL the posts. What impressed me most was the ‘real’ photos of your house. It’s so refreshing to see clothes and toys all over the place. I have two little boys and there hasn’t been a moment in the past 4 years that the house has been picked up/clean enough for my liking. And I’m learning to let that go. Happy kids and a happy mom are more important than folded clothes and a sparkling kitchen floor.

You are a true inspiration to moms and women. Thank you for your blog!

Hah! The last pic made me smile too! I’m sitting here looking at my kitchen counters- that are covered in stuff and wondering how other people do it!

You home is absolutely gorgeous- love all the white! Thanks for sharing those pictures!
    Have a great day.

My husband and I are just purchasing our first home. I am dying to get in there and bead board the ceilings. It’s an open floor plan 80’s rambler with POPCORN CEILINGS!!! Those are the first thing to go and I don’t need to pull them down if I’m just going to beadboard over them. Did you install your ceilings with the beadboard sheets or the separate boards that are tongue and groove? I’m doing my research ahead of time so I know what is best when the time comes. Thanks so much for your beautiful example of a work at home mother who home educates her children, honors her husband and the Lord with her life and can appreciate beauty and the gifts the Lord has given you.
    Blessings,
    Jen Green
