remember my button monogram i did over christmas?
well, it just sat around my house, leaned against a window, never finding a home.
i just didn’t love it. and sean definitely didn’t love it!
this project was a case of “sometimes too much is just too much”.
as much as i love adding color to our home, these colors were just too disorganized and random.
after a lot of hemming and hawing (clearly i’m getting old), i decided to spray paint it.
i had a can of glossy cream leftover from the owl, so i started there, thinking i could change it if i didn’t love it. it took several coats to cover all that color and get in the tiny grooves and button holes.
but i love it now!
it still is super fun because its made of buttons, but it doesn’t scream at me anymore.
it sits right above an already colorful area – the laundry cart that houses our family games.
i am still amazed at what a can of paint can do!
ps – the wall color is silver sage by restoration hardware, but there’s a catch: i had it color matched because i don’t have a restoration hardware close, nor did i want to pay the hefty price. the color was matched more grey than the original, but i still loved it.

It turned out great! It’s amazing what a little spray paint can do…I don’t know how I’d live without it!
oh yes – I love it now too! we must have been on the same button page as my most recent post was button related too!

I liked it before…love it now! It looks great!
AWESOME transformation! I am a neutrals girl, so the new, creamy look speaks to me. :) And by the way, I’m still oh-so-jealous of your laundry cart!
i love both of them – i think the colorful one would be cute in a playroom or kid’s room – but i definitely think the cream one fits your room better. i love spray paint!
that is really cute and creative!
Oh. So. Much. Better. And where do you get a laundry cart? Love how you used it to hold games!
What a difference the paint made! It looks great.
I love how clean this looks! C as in charming!
I seriously love that! Somehow it appears that the buttons are not just a uniform color but have their own slight differences i tone etc. love Love LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! …….and may have to copy…..I man admiringly follow in your footsteps.
Ack! In my excitement I made too many typos above!!!

Much better indeed! It looks like something you’d find at Anthro with a hefty price tag attached to it. Great job! :) Im always amazed at the power of spray paint. It transforms for sure:)
It’s amazing what a can of white, glossy spray paint can do! It saves many items in our house!!!! Always have a can on hand! The letter C looks great! I agree, much better white than multi colored. What a nice touch!
Wow!!! What a beautiful and stylish difference a can of white makes! Just beautiful Lindsey!
LOVE it!! Looks FAB all creamy and gorgeous!! Is hemming and hawing a new sign of aging?!?! I hope not because I am always on the fence about something!!
Just one word
AWESOME!!!
I really, really love it! Great improvement!
It is stunning. Very creative and classy since you sprayed it. Love it!
Seeing this made my day! I have an aversion to serious and pricy art (maybe because I’m the least serious/cheap person I know)! I love how something so simple, made with love and hung on a wall can make a home. Hope it makes you smile :)
