linking up my weekly cell phone pics with jeannett again! btw, jeannett just had her 4th baby on wednesday – yay! and he’s a looker, i tell ya!
last friday we met some friends early in the morning and got the first tractor ride at avila valley barn! if you ever take a trip here to the central coast and you have kids, i highly recommend this place! you can get all sorts of fresh produce, there’s a cute gift shop, fresh cooked corn on the cob, a bunch of animals to feed (goats, cows, mini horses, sheep…), an ice cream shop, tractor rides to pick your own produce, and now even pony rides!
we stuck to olallieberry (kinda like blackberries) picking and feeding the animals. and getting a fresh baked loaf of sour dough bread and eating half of it on the way home.
i felt all kinds of fancy on sunday wearing the rhinestone bracelet i wore for my wedding along with some newer freshwater pearls.
gracie is in a summer book club and we finished their first book, anne of green gables. i can’t believe i had never read it before! i totally cried at the end! the kids were not nearly as moved as i was, as you can see in the picture.
helping old friends move to town and showing them just how close the ice cream shop was to their house – fun!
getting ready for our daytime date with our good friends. why is it that wedges make everything fancier?
we went for a private wine tasting and lunch at a winery – it was wonderful! we couldn’t decide if it was the view or the wine, but everything seemed so magical and perfect!
we had freshly baked bread, incredible buttery olive oil, yummy olives…
a great carrot soup and salmon with a salad.
i don’t drink wine but i ended up liking almost everything we sampled – very rare for me! maybe my palette is maturing…?
after a long day in the heat at the winery, we didn’t feel like cooking dinner, so we went for a walk to the creek downtown and had a picnic (on the summer list).
we enjoyed lots of snuggle time with the kiddos and then threw rocks in the creek, learning how to skip them (also on the summer list!).
woke up at almost 9 (!!!) to this little monkey face. i adore his freckles!
some days are long. and sometimes they are long even before lunch time hits. and some days an ice cream is a perfectly reasonable solution to kick the grumps. chocolate malted crunch for the win.
silas and lily, on the other hand, enjoyed the nastiest looking cotton candy dye-filled ice cream.
silas rode home nudie in the car.
we baked our olallieberry pie!
the kids started swim lessons at a friend’s pool. no complaining at all, due to the 92* water temp!
and when long days don’t quit, sometimes its ok to just throw in the towel and admit defeat. after making dinner, sean took over kid duty and let me enjoy dinner and the rest of my evening alone.
and i thoroughly enjoyed my pie!
reality is, i have to work. its really hard to do with it being summer and all, and a summer list that is bigger than my brain thought it would be at the time of making it (hindsight…), but at least when i get to do the creative side of my job its pretty to look at!
flowers from the garden to celebrate baby owen!
i can’t complain too much to spending my afternoons poolside like this!
happy weekend friends!

I really enjoyed your pics this week! Love Anne of Green Gables ~ you must read the entire series, must! If you have never seen the DVD series that is also a must. Your girls will also love them. I also don’t drink wine :-( and I cannot believe there is a Thrifty’s by you. I loooooove double malted crunch ice cream. Have a great weekend!
I agree with Karen! You must read the whole series! They’re public domain on the Kindle. The Anne movies are quite different from the book but still wonderful!
Happy Weekend!
Your week looked lovely, and that pic looks yummy!!!
*pie* looks yummy :)
Looks like a great week — that pie turned out beautifully! :-) Happy weekend to you, too!
MAN! Summer in your family looks SO fun! How blessed are those kids?!
I have never seen a prettier picture of blackberries :) and your date looks like a dreamdate!
ps. your alone time looks dreamy as well! SO JEALOUS!
oh and just one more… can I steal the summer book club idea? I am reading American Girl books to my six year old daughter right now but have several classics on hand to start and could include my 8 year old boy. Do you just read a loud to them at a certain time every day?
looks like you had a great weekend! I love the way you wore your bracelets and yes, wedges have that effect on outfits :) your kids are absolutely adorable!
Great pics! What fun! Your son’s ice cream face is theee best! ;)Alyssa of Boston Bee
Wow, Lindsey, you look amazing in the photo with the wedges, just like a model!
Love the pics, especially your date pic. You have amazing legs!
Have to agree, the whole series of Anne of Green Gables is great, you can get it for free on the Kindle. If you don’t have a Kindle you can get the Kindle app for free on your iphone. I just read through them all this year (and stayed up waaayy too late some nights because I couldn’t bring myself to put it down). Just found your blog recently and loving reading along. It’s the middle of winter here in Australia and seeing all of your summer fun-ness makes me want the warmer weather back again!
Seriously! That picture of you with the wedges is great! You look beautiful!
I MISS THRIFTY’S!!!!! every time we visit my parents in san jose, thirfty’s is our #1 stop!
