life rearranged

wanna know my favorite thing about linking up my phone pics with jeannett every friday?  its that this is what my blog started out like. just me, my family, whats going on, the silly things we did all week – our life.  i’m so happy to still have a record of all this!

i’m thepleatedpoppy on instagram if you want to follow me!

this is what my floor looks like after a long night of cutting.  its a mess, but at least its pretty!  notice how small my trash pieces are?  i save every last bit to use for projects.

i am so excited about this fabric combination!  i’m starting with a clutch, but more products will come soon after!

i hosted a welcome shower for a friend/the wife of our new college pastor.  i decided to decorate with hydrangeas from our garden.

its funny how they look great on the bush, but AMAZING in a vase!  these are my all time favorite flowers, hands down.

this was the only picture i took, and it was after the shower!  i just grabbed stuff from around the house and was so happy how it all came together!

i’ve been doing some fun design work at our school this summer.  we’re doing a display over the front office that is so much fun – paper airplanes flying all over!

some days the kids head off for a bit and then i find a giant fort or a huge art mess, or sometimes things like this:  a pedicure salon.  they thought of every little detail: reading material, warm water with rose petals, lotion, soft (new) towels, and cushy seats.

clearly “spa pedicure” is still a bit unclear to this boy.

there’s a vets hall down the street from us and the kids love to climb all over the tank there.  its like a giant jungle gym… that was once used to kill people in a war.  totally normal.

some dear friends of ours are adopting a baby boy from korea and i had the pleasure of making his bedding.  kind of a vintage “air mail” theme.

this boy woke up fine, then suddenly had a very red eye.  i freaked out and declared “pink eye!”.  by the time i spoke with a nurse it was gone.  huh?  then the next morning both eyes were pink.  for fear of infecting others at play dates and with school starting next week, we went for an office visit.  why do the kids insist on playing with the germ infested toys?   on the ground?!  thankfully, my kids immune systems are pretty well built up.  better news, he only has allergies and no pink eye – yay!

every. single. week.  what i wore posts go up.  i’m getting faster at putting them together, but it still takes awhile! take pics, edit, upload, download, link….  then i spend all day wednesday looking over all the link ups – which is really so much fun!

these 2 had a little kindergarten orientation.  how is it that my baby is going into kinder?  this pic will be in their wedding slideshow ;)

i added more petal drop necklaces to the shop.  can you tell i like dots?

this is what my work space looked like when i went to sit down and finish the baby quilt i had started.  i had to spend 15 minutes clearing out space before i could even begin!  i have a problem…

instafriday at the pleated poppy

but the quilt is done!  i love how the back side turned out.

and i finished just in time because baby ezra is coming home on tuesday from korea!  i am so thrilled for our friends and their growing family!

and we snuck in a date night after a late night school meeting.  i’m kinda in love with this one.  as jane austen said ” the very moment i beheld him, my heart was irrevocably gone.”

how’s your weekend shaping up?  we’re thinking of a garage sale possibly and maybe some beach time before we start school on monday.  monday!!!  crazy!

I love it and i love your circle quilt , I enjoy looking at your stuff, you always encourage me to get my creative juices going….. I also want to ask you how did you get your buisness started, i am thinking small but i just wanted to ask how do you balance it all and is thier a time when gained the confidence to go for it…. I understand if your too busy to get back to me… thanks though and feel free to email me if you rather.

Oh my goodness…the pedicure salon is the cutest thing ever!!

That quilt is gorgeous!! And I’m so jealous of your work room! Beautiful shower, by the way. Hydrangeas really are the best.

  6. 6

I love Hydrangeas! They are so simple and beautiful…
I also love the quilt <3 I want to make one for the little bundle that is on the way :) And then I will have to make two more for the the little bundles that are 3 and 4. That's a lot of quilting for a beginner!

  7. 7

Love the pics- do you know what type of hydrangeas you have- they too are my favorite! Ours look completely different-I know climate has something to do with it- but wow! Sometimes I read your blog and think that we were twins and we were separated at birth- I cannot believe how similar our taste is. Maybe we will meet in the future! Have a great weekend!

Love your hydrangeas – they sucked me in from Life Rearranged! My wedding bouquet was made up of them, so they have a soft spot in my heart.

And I am booking an appointment with your kids at their pedicure place as soon as possible! Adorable. Happy Weekend! I am going kayaking in Puget Sound with my big brother. Cannot wait!

Hydrangeas are just the perfect flower aren’t they? I love how the back of your quilt turned out and your petal drop necklaces are gorgeous!!

  10. 10

I used to quilt, before I had kids, before I worked full time. Looking at your quilt pics makes me think I should get back to it, now that my kiddos are big enough to know better than to get into the pins and quilt pieces. // beautiful hydrangeas and shower decorations. I wish I could just grab some stuff I have around the house and have it look like that. // I wish my messy work space looked as neat as that // love the spa. that was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Did your heart just melt? // have a great week! // (stopped by from Life.Rearranged)
