this is the summer of projects for me, apparently! we decided to stay home most of the summer with a couple of small trips, so this has allowed for tons of time to work on our summer list, and plenty of time for projects for me! between these 2 things, very little time has been left for work, which has been good and bad – nice to have a break, but stressful still.
this table was done at the beginning of summer.
a few years ago we got this hand-me-down table from my brother’s family. its got a fun shape and is great quality.
we’ve used it for a long time in our playroom, to play on, jump off of, do school work at, etc.
when we first got the table, the girls and i decoupaged the entire thing with scrapbook supplies.
it was a really fun project, and i fully intended to seal it with epoxy, but only got around to a few coats of mod podge.
then silas got to it.
when he was still little, he found a small lifted edge of paper. and peeled off the whole table top!
here’s our living room with our other coffee table. while i like the shape and style of this table, it felt small between these 2 big couches, so i decided to switch the coffee tables with each other.
i was happy with the look, but the round coffee table with the wood top blended right in with the seagrass rug underneath. boring.
i grabbed a couple cans of this pretty paint, and a leftover bit of paint from our sofa table in mermaid’s net by behr, and got to work!
i love the bit of color here without being too in-your-face bright. i ended up grabbing some random wood stain and thinning it out for a quick wash on top to age it out a bit.
i sprayed on a couple coats of clear and was good to go!

Did you use a primer first?
oh my! i love it and i LOVE the basket underneath too!! great job.
It’s hard to believe that it is the same table. Well loved and used in different ways. Love the color of the paint, looks great.

This is amazing! At first I thought these photos were from a home decor magazine, but realized it was your house! The table is beautiful. I have one very similar sitting in my garage, you may have inspired me to do something about that :) Heather

nothing better than taking something old that your tired of, and making it new again. it’s the best budget friendly tool in any creative type – home decorators tool kit! my home is full of things like that, re-purposed, re-invented, and people always seem to feel right at home, and comment on how warm and relaxed it feels . for me, i like a home with some interest. my worst thing ever would be if if HAD to decorate my home with all new furniture in ‘espresso’ finish, all from one store, all from one collection. i’d die a thousand deaths of boredom!!! ha, ha…..
very cute! i like the metal basket underneath! that’s super cute too! you have the best house ever! i love it!
i love it! you have a very beautiful home. i’d love to have that office!
Love your ingenuity and the way you stick to it
Till its done, so inspiring.
The colors you chose are perfect for the room. It’s the perfect fit!

gorgeous!! love it with that metal basket with all the white underneath too!
Love the color choices and I’m a fan of round coffee tables! Softens up all the angles… bring on the curves!

your coffee table lots amazing now. I really love what you have done with it and the colour!

Love how this turned out!! Who knew spray paint could look so good… I gotta work on my spray painting skills, they are lacking — and it seems like such a quick and easy way to spruce anything up.
love it! so cute. I have a piece I am about to do and hadn’t thought of doing that. great idea!
Love the new look!!
I bought our coffee table (see above) at a garage sale a couple years ago for pennies. It was really scratched up, but I loved the storage. Two drawers a basket? Yes, please. So I threw a table runner over the top to hide the majority of the scratches and called it good.
