what i did last summer:

isn’t that what every teacher asked you to write about on the first day of school?  well, today was our first day of school, so i figured i’d share my list!

yes, yesterday i shared what we did last summer, but all of my fun projects weren’t listed on our family list, so now i share!

summer projects at the pleated poppy

i try every season to switch out my mantle.  that said, i still have my summer mantle up even though we’re now working our way into fall…

i love having a beachy summer mantle, but this year i added a bit of color with the tangerine fabric.

a friend and i also threw a baby shower for jeannett and baby owen

i finished the kids’ bathroom in the spring, but didn’t put the final touches on it until this summer – so glad its done!

my parents and i made this adorable 3 tiered tray out of cake pans.  ok, all i did was photograph the project, but i was there at least!

i transformed my button monogram to fit my house a little better.  as much as i love color, the original was kind of… offensive.  the white looks so much better!

 i repainted this coffee table

i gave this thrifted owl a little anthro makeover

i did a lot of design/decorating work at our school this summer as well, starting with this lamp for the reception room in the admin office.  just realized i forgot to blog about it.  oops!

i also painted this globe with chalkboard paint – i still want one for myself!

i took this thrifted $3 table and gave it a colorful new life – details to come soon…

i made this chalkboard with my dad for our school’s office to post our weekly events – i loooove it!

we also strung tension wires above the office area and i hung all sizes of paper airplanes, from 4 inches long to 3 feet long!  the ones with the curly cues are my favorite!

i tried my hand at working with felt and made this pillow for a friend’s daughter

while we aren’t any where near finished, we made huge strides toward improving our front yard – yay!

i hosted a small shower for a friend (the wife of our new college pastor).  and i forgot to take any pictures until after – boo.

There are so many beautiful things here I don’t even know where to begin.
That coffee table is wonderful! I love all the fresh colors and whimsy that everyone is decorating their home in these days, unfortunately my husband is one of those “no girly stuff” men and when we married, everything went neutral. but oh i would’ve loved to have you decorate my apartment when i was still single girl! love it all!

Wonderful! I love lists that like help you realize how much you’ve done in just one summer! My favorite project this summer was turning a dried flower in wall art! (http://almostcasual.blogspot.com/2012/07/project-6-of-12-rose-petal-art.html)
My summer was full of trying to brighten up the place, and add art to the walls :]

That is a lot of projects! I look lazy in comparison ;)

I love the bathroom – it turned out great!

My favorite summer “project” was going on vacation for a month and learning now to schedule every minute of every day. That is a hard thing for me since I am an organized type “A” person.

You have been one busy lady! Love the 3 tier project in your bathroom. That is such a great idea.

I enjoyed seeing all that you did. What a great idea for a post. I may have to copy that. Love your pictures.

I’m pretty sure I just fell in love with your house. It’s beautiful!

Love all your summer projects! I finally got my pantry door chalkboard done. I also made a list of easy updates to do around the house to make it more ours, cleared out some clutter in the garage, went to the beach, visited friends and family, ate WAY too much, and enjoyed hanging out with our kiddos.

I clicked on the link to your school. I’m trying not to be jealous. It’s really hard though, because that school is awesome! Wish we had one like it here.

    Thanks for inspiring me! :)

As always Lindsey…you are an inspiration!

My favorite summer project this summer is the backyard party I just threw for my daughter before she leaves for Italy this Sunday. She has never been so far away from me…so….. I am concentrating hard on being grateful for all of the wonderful experiences she is embarking on.

Your blog is always so full of family love, creativity, entrepreneurship and honesty. Thank you for doing what you do my dear!
