*THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED*
happy wednesday, friends!
i have something really special for you today – a shabby apple giveaway! just be warned: you’re about to see a whole lotta me in a whole lotta red.
if you’re new here to wiww, its a place i started to keep myself accountable to getting dressed each day. putting a little effort into myself has made a huge difference on how i feel and is actually pretty fun! thanks to all of you who have joined me! another benefit to posting weekly outfit pictures is that i push myself to try new things more often, hence the pictures below.
i am not a red girl. in fact, i own very few items with red in them. but when i saw this dress, i had to have it! actually, i spent probably close to a month choosing which dress i wanted shabby apple to send me (thank you thank you thank you!) because there are so many amazing choices. but i saw this dress and remembered my friend tracy wearing it at SNAP and she looked amazing in it. i figured i’d go bold and try something new!
so here it is: one dress, three ways.
i thought for the most part i don’t get too dressy, so how could i dress this down for daytime? red is pretty bold, so i didn’t want to go with black accents because that would only step up the contrast. adding boots and a jean jacket make anything right for daytime, am i right? i even could have added a simple leather belt, but i kept it simple and showed off the cute bow detail of the dress.
i added a simple deer necklace from lisa leonard to break up all the red. i love the feminine details of the dress: the boat neck, the fitted waistline, the lacy hem.
boots – steve madden
jean jacket – forever 21
but if i were to wear this dress out for a date or a special event (hello christmas party!), black was the perfect accent color for the accessories.
a necklace with a longer length adds some sparkle and the simple suede wedges keep it dressy, yet comfy.
necklace – forever 21
wedges – payless
this is where i really had to push myself, and i think this is my favorite outfit of all! i wanted something unexpected and eclectic – mixing patterns and colors.
you can’t go wrong with polka dots and leopard print, and a little turquoise never hurt anyone.
remember when you’re mixing patterns to have at least one color in common between the prints to have it make a little bit of sense. and turquoise almost works as a neutral – it goes with just about every other color!
cardigan – forever 21
flats – target
necklace – ruby rose
