glass drying rack

glass drying rack

i found this great glass drying rack at world market recently.  i’ll be honest:  it was supposed to be a gift, but decided to keep it for my own house!

i have been wanting a glass drying rack for awhile, but the really great ones are pretty expensive.  i don’t know about you, but i don’t have a spare $250 lying around, but $15 for the one i found was easier to scrounge up!

i already have a 3 tiered wire basket on my island (where the rack will go), so i needed to change up the metal color.  i went out on a limb and sprayed it a high gloss watermelon color, after a couple coats of primer.

i am so happy with how it turned out!  i was a little weary of what sean would think (i mean, it is pink after all), but he said he loved that it was an unexpected funky color.  love him!

because i sprayed a few light coats rather than one heavy coat of paint, the finish is holding up really well.

we have the kids glasses on the rack and they fit perfectly!  they use small mason jars which are very durable and super cheap to replace.  with the jars out in plain site the kids and their friends can easily grab their own glasses and get water for themselves!  it sits in the center of the kitchen at the edge of the island – just close enough to the edge for little hands to reach.

What a great find!!! I love the smaller size. We have one that was brought back from France and use it for mugs. Never thought about painting it … seeing your lovely I may consider it. Merry Christmas…xo HHL

    * I should clarify that we don’t have a World Market anywhere near us so its the online site that’s always sold out.

This is a great idea. We use the 8 oz mason jars for the kids, too, and they usually end up shoved onto a low shelf in the pantry. No longer!

I saw that the other day there and thought, “That is so cute. Surely I could do something with that.”

    But I didn’t.

    Love this idea!

I love using Mason jars as glasses! They’re too cute. The red is such a fun color for your drying rack. (:

May the force be with you.
