what i wore wednesday

welcome to wiww!  if you’re new here, this is a fun place where we share our weekly outfits, to encourage one another to just get dressed!  get out of the yoga pants and spend 10 minutes on yourself, already!

before we jump in to the outfits, did you see my pin it to win it contest?  winner gets $50 to my shop – woohoo!

what i wore wednesday at the pleated poppy

this is an old cardigan, but worn in a new way.  its one of those that has really long front tails and i never really know what to do with them.  this time i grabbed the bottom corner of each tail and wrapped them across my chest and around my neck, securing in the back with a huge safety pin – it worked!  this was perfect for a cozy day at home.

this outfit makes me so happy!  for lots of reasons: i felt cute in it, but still super cozy. it was casual, but the gold on the shirt bumped it up a slight notch.

but my very favorite part?  my socks.  actually, showing my socks.  if i’m wearing socks, which is every winter day, i wear cute, silly, funky socks.  mostly polka dots and stripes and argyle.  but you never really see them.  and i love to wear my pants cuffed, but that doesn’t work for me in the winter because i hate having cold ankles.  so the fact that i was able to wear my pants cuffed and have on socks made me so happy!  yes, its kinda nerdy, but i’ll call it nerdy chic ;)

    Hello Lindsey,
It’s a lot of time since I follow WIWW and I never saw you with a skirt, showing your legs! Come on Lindsey, i know you can do it, free yourself from jeans, they are a little bit boring! We wanna see you in skirt !

    Regards, Carmen (from Italy)

I love the way you “restyled” your old cardigan. Such a great idea! I have a similar one I haven’t worn in forever I want to try it with. Thanks for the inspiration every week, Lindsey!

I really love how you wore your cardigan. Completely changes the sweater and it looks absolutely fabulous. You’re a smart lady!

Hey (From Scotland!), Love the restyling of the cardigan, I have a few of those and often find them blah, will give it a go! x

  9. 10

Nerdy chic! Haha, I love it! That’s a cute way to wear cuffed jeans/cute socks in the winter.

Also, I love your pink pants. So cute, and the perfect pop of color!

  10. 11

I love the casual-ness of your outfits, but with well-thought out pieces, accessories, or combinations. Thinking about doing a similar outfit today as your pink pants & chambray top! Happy Wednesday and thanks for hosting!

I love what you did with the first cardigan!! Adorable! I agree that sometimes those cardigans with long tails can end up looking shapeless, and your solution totally fixed that.

I am loving how you wore the cardigan in the very top picture! So creative! I don’t own a cardigan like that, but might have to go buy one simply so I can wear it just like that. It’s so flattering!

I love all of your outfits! That style of Cardi in the first pick is one of my favorite’s! I have a teal one that I abuse when it’s cold. I’m linking up for the first time! I love a good linkup.

  20. 21

you wear such cute clothes, and I love your socks! haha (:

  21. 22

Love the socks! How fun :) I’m also smiten with your statement necklace. What a way to elevate a basic outfit.

  22. 23

Oh my goodness, the way you wrapped that long tail cardigan is GENIUS! I thought it looked like such a cute unique style of sweater and then read that you wrapped it up like that yourself, I was so excited. I have a sweater just like that and I’m starting to not like the long ends, so I am definitely trying this sometime soon!!

Thanks for the great idea! I’ll be following along now =)

  23. 24

Love that statement necklace! It’s amazing what a bold piece and pop of color like that can to brighten up a simple outfit… and make it versatile! This is such a great link-up!

    Louise in NE OK says:

Love the ingenious way you wore the ‘long tailed’ cardigan. I will definitely try to copy your style on that one! Inspired!!!

  28. 29

I would’ve never guessed that cardigan/sweater wasn’t supposed to be worn like that – neat idea, and it looks great!
