what i wore wednesday

welcome to what i wore wednesday!  if you’re new here, yay!  wiww is a fun place for outfit inspiration, but also a great place to find motivation.  it is amazing how putting 10 minutes into yourself in the morning can change the way you feel about your day.  on the days that i stay in my jammies (which are more often than i like to admit), i have a lazier attitude and less motivation to get things done.  but when i’m feeling good about how i look, i’m ready for errands, coffee dates, or just answering my door (in something other than said jammies).  if you’re ready to take the plunge, i encourage you to join us.  start taking daily pictures of whatever you’re wearing, whether its yoga pants or work clothes.  once you are keeping yourself accountable to the act of taking pictures, you will want to improve upon what you see in those pictures.  putting on jeans instead of yoga pants, or adding a scarf to your normal oxford and blazer rut… you will see a change!

also, if you are new here, this is not just a fashion blog!  i have a fun handmade shop and i love to share my home and diy projects, too!  stay for awhile and take a look around!

this outfit was a little bit of a stretch for me because my sweater was just a touch shorter than i’d like it to be.  i feel like its a no-no to have your buns show in leggings (leggings give waaaay too much info on the tush than anyone needs). but i so wanted the outfit to work so i just went for it, tugging at my shirts and sweater in the back all. day. long.  so next time, i’ll just wear my black skinnies instead!

chambray shirt – forever 21

leggings – walmart

boots – off broadway shoes

infinity cowl scarf – by me, but not available in the shop – sorry!  it was made with scraps. here are similar styles.

and another tip with leggings:  i always double up on my black leggings with a second pair underneath.  one, because i’m always cold.  and two, because black leggings tend to be really sheer.  just another reason to cover your bum ;)

any excuse to wear my rain boots, i’ll take it!  there were a few drops on and off throughout the day, so i deemed it a necessity.

as sean was taking the above picture, he teased me about my “f.t.” – front tuck.  i don’t tuck my shirts in much, so it stood out to him. i untucked it for him to see the difference.  the “f.t.” is not very forgiving to a mommy belly, i must say.  thoughts?

    Love outfit #3!! So adorable!!!!

  2. 2

Your f.t. is totally cute! You have no mommy tummy! I wish I could tuck in my shirts! Love your mantle decor! xo

  3. 3

Great outfits :) Thanks for hosting, love your outfit your wearing in the road :)

  4. 4

I highly recommend American Apparel winter leggings. They are warmer and thicker so I know for me I feel much more comfortable in them around town. Feels more like wearing skinnies and that makes me feel safer but still comfy like leggings. They are a bit pricy but well worth it.

  5. 5

I can’t tuck. Between the boobs and the mommy belly, I’ve given up. I can’t do belts for the same reason. LOVE your new yellow sweater! SO cute. And I’m right there witcha on the leggings. I see girls running around in them like they’re pants. It’s frightening!! LOL. The tip to double up is great!

  6. 6

each outfit is so adorable! I especially love the cuffed boyfriend jeans with flats, such a simple look that you made fun with flats and a spicy headband. the last outfit reminds me I still don’t own a pair of boot socks, I’ve got to try those!

  7. 7

You’re outfits were all über cute! I love the idea of taking photos everyday to motivate yourself to dress better. I know for me a picture can que me in on what doesn’t work and what does that I would otherwise be blind to! Haha. Next week I’ll try the photo taking challenge….fun, fun, fun!

  8. 8

I try & do the front tuck. But this mama of 2’s tummy finds it just doesn’t work well :(

  9. 9

I love that yellow cardigan that you are wearing :) Nice!

I love love the way you have your scarf styled in the last 2 pictures!
So cute! Is it easy to style it that way?

I love the front tuck although my Mom Tummy is considerably larger than yours(?)! It was all the rage in Australia in 1987 and I never saw it here at the time (Reno, NV). The trend was dressy walking shorts, a gorgeous leather belt and a blouse or t with the front tuck to show off your cool belt.

  16. 16

You are adorable as always! I love all the layering- love the ‘half tuck’ with the white t shirt outfit, it’s so simple, yet it looks so effortless and stylish!
One quick note about leggings, I bought some at Nordstrom- and they were expensive- but they are so thick you wouldn’t need to wear 2 pair, plus they have built in tummy control- which is great for moms! Here is the link:

  17. 17

Cute outfits, as always! I love that white coat. Thank you for hosting!

  18. 18

I love checking out your WIWW. You always look great! I’m going to keep checking the shop for the striped scarf’s. I loved them but wasn’t fast enough :)

  19. 19

Lindsey, You HAVE no Mommy belly left so the f.t. looks awesome. I just love all your outfits, so pretty and chic and casual.

  20. 20

i always feel strange tucking as well-yep, must be the mom thing. haha. oh, and p.s. your bum is tiny so i wouldn’t worry about anyone seeing it. :) but i get what ya mean, i always cover mine up too!
    as always thanks for hosting.

  21. 21

Rainboots are my favorite! Love that outfit! The leggings with denim shirt are cute too! I never thought of layering my leggings! Great idea! I can’t believe how long your hair is! How long are you going to let it grow???

PS- You DO NOT have a MOM BELLY! are you kidding me?!?!?!?!?!!??!!?

  22. 22

I think the front tuck is a cute look for you. I am quite a bit older, so no tucking in for me (3 c-sections) , but I really enjoy WIWW and all the creative ideas for clothing. Thank you for doing this every week! Oh, and I wanted to know how you can wear your flats with no socks on the cold days. My feet would FREEZE! :-)

  23. 23

    Your hair grew so fast!!

  24. 24

love the peter pan blouse! thanks for hosting!

  25. 25

I want to fly to California and have you shop with me at Forever 21. I wander aimlessly through that store with NO success and you find such cute stuff!

  26. 26

Always the cutest casual outfits you pull together. You’re thin legs would always look fine in leggings. I saw a woman in the cold of Chicago wearing sheer tights as leggings. I really felt for her because I know she was thinking she was looking cute. It’s like the half tuck-I look in the mirror and think ohh yeah this works then I catch myself in a window and it has worked itself out into a big poof hahaha

  27. 27

thanks for linking up with us lindsey! love that you got outside and tried a new photo-opp! will we see you in dallas at blissdom?

  28. 28

  29. 29

Checking out your WIWW post is always on my Wednesday morning To Do’s. Just saw on Pinterest someone pinned you in one of your outfits!

  30. 30

    I like the front tuck!

  31. 31

Your comment on how “leggings give waaay to much info” about our bums was too funny. It’s exactly how I feel but hadn’t put it into words, Lol! Which is exactly why I don’t wear them like that! I will be quoting you in the future! =) Thanks for the laugh! And BTW, you always look cute, I love coming here to see your outfits. =)

  32. 32

Hi today was my first post on WIWTW. I called What i wore this week, because it was easier. I really like this and can’t wait for next week. Totally stepping out of my comfort zone here.

    Thank you for sharing!

Love the black boots from Off Broadway! I just bought a pair of the same ones in brown and LOVE them. Your outfits are very fun. I really appreciate the weekly inspiration. I am always amazed at what I can “find” in my closet after checking in! Thank you!

  35. 35

I love the Old Navy boots with the laces. Also the mustard colored oversized F21 sweater is too cute! I can’t believe those things are from bargain stores!

  36. 36

That’s my favorite street in town too! When I was younger, I dreamed of getting married on that street, shutting it down and walking down the aisle under the canopy of trees.

  37. 37

Mommy tummy? You look like you have a perfect tummy to me! I totally know what you mean about need a top to cover your tush if you are wearing leggings–that is the exact reason I haven’t worn my Versace H&M leggings yet; I can’t find a top that works but is long enough!
