red letter words {sponsored post and giveaway} *CLOSED*

i know i’ve mentioned it before, but i love dee and her prints! i still get emails asking about my micah print that she did for my entryway.

dee has come up with a brand new line of prints… one word. i am sure you’ve seen on other sites suggestions for having a word for the year. something to remind ourselves of a goal or character quality that we hope to develop, strengthen, or focus on.

i think this would be a great reminder of that goal, whether you want to focus on peace in your home, encouraging yourself and the little ones to read more, being gracious, etc.  the prints are super cute, but the hardest part would be either choosing a word or coming up with a custom word.

i think my custom word for the year would be “engage.” i want to engage with my kids, with sean, my friends, my readers. i guess it’s more about going deeper in my relationships instead of letting things be surface-y which is sooooo easy to do when you’re a busy working mama of three.

or if you want to go a completely different route, she has some single word prints already designed. i really love these! perfect for a valentine’s day mantle or over a bed!

what would your word be? both dee and i would love to know!

as a matter of fact, go to the comment section and leave your own one word for the year and reason why you chose it and you will be entered to win a custom print from dee! or if you are in love with one of her words, let us know which print you like best!

one winner will receive a print of their word and will be announced sometime on saturday, february 9th.

for those of you who need more time to think of your word or favorite print, dee has generously marked this collection as 20% off for the month of february! no code needed!

can’t wait to read your creative word choices!

  59. 59

Maybe “light”. John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. This verse has been an anchor for me lately.

  60. 60

I love these prints! I would probably choose the Love print, but I also really like the Home print. It would be a hard choice!

I am a busy mama of a 2 and a half year old and an almost 1 year old. When we get busy and the house is cluttered, stress levels run high, and I am not the mama I should be. I am focusing on simplicity this year. The simpler things are, the more I can focus on the things that really matter.

    Emily Baker says:

Wow-so many words! I think I would have to say grace, which is stereotypical and common. However, it is something I really do not understand and grow to understand more and more each year. Either grace extended to me or grace I need to extend to others.

  75. 75

“Patience”. That’s my word of the year. To be “patient” with my 9 month old who is learning to crawl and walk and talk all at the same time and gets confused and upset by his new found abilities. To his fearlessness when trying new things. I need to have “patience”. For my hubby who is a new nurse working in the emergency room of a large hospital who struggles from day to day caring for the many sick folks who walk through their doors. “Patience” to be present and listen to him expound about his very busy and stressful night. “Patience” for the fact that we are both working full time and have no time. “Patience” for the tedious steps my very sick mother in law has to take to get well again. She is our world and it takes “patience” on her part and ours to help her recover. “Patience” for my new niece or nephew that is set to arrive this coming August. “Patience” helps engender acceptance. “Patience” will let me see my beautiful life and family for what it is: my joy and happiness; my stability. I will practice more “patience” this year as it will bring out the beauty in my life for me to see properly and live in the present.

  76. 76

  82. 82

I need to be reminded that God is in control. There should be no worry or anxiety as long as I wait on him. His timing and plan is way better than mine anyway!

My word for the year is “delight.” We are entering a new season as a family. Our youngest was born 10 months ago with profound hearing loss, our oldest will be starting kindergarten in the fall, and I just became a stay at home mom. Delight means “great pleasure” or “to please someone greatly.” That is my focus for the year – to take great pleasure in this season of life and to do my best to please God with my life. “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” Psalm 37:4.

  86. 86

FOCUS- My goal for the year :)

  88. 88

What a fun giveaway, thanks so much!! I love the colorful signs! My word for 2013 is balance. I would like to learn how to balance things so that I don’t ignore my family while scrambling to finish a church project, or to stay up until 2:30AM because I’m canning more green beans. Learning how to balance the good and the bad and fun and work times.

  94. 94

My word is “passion” My brother passed away 6.5 years ago at the age of 27. Any time I am reminded of him passion always comes to mind. He was so passionate about everything he done. I sometimes get caught up in the fast-pace of life and forget to take time to be passionate in the things I am involved in and enjoy doing. So passion is my word, not only for the year, but for the remainder of my life……

  95. 95

Such beautiful things. Love it! My word this year is ‘kindness’. Thinking that I will try to use kindness when with others (even when upset or frustrated). I can’t decide between “pray” and “whatsoever”. Because “whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” has been on my mind.

  98. 98

I think my word would be Joy. I need a reminder of where my joy comes from and that circumstances should dictate my joy.

  99. 99

I don’t really have a “word”, but it got me thinking that it might help if I did. “Content” is a word that I strive to be… I also really like her “Joy” print. I need reminded to be joyous because it rubs off on others.

  100. 100

  112. 112

I don’t usually do the “word of the year” thing that I’ve seen around the blog world, but these two words keep coming up over and over. I am thankful that I can rest in Jesus as my HOPE and my PEACE and I can speak these words over my family and others who need them. :)

  130. 130

Dear Lindsey and Dee…I would love to have a “formal” print of the word RADAPH…Hebrew for “follow” in Psalm 23:6a…it means to be chased down/pursued by goodness and mercy …”Surely goodness and mercy shall FOLLOW me all the days of my life…” I have it scribbled on a chalkboard in my dining room…but would be so tickled to have it made by Dee..{squeal} thanks for the giveaway!!

  131. 131

My word of the year is APPRECIATE!!
So often I do not take the time to truly appreciate all that the Lord has blessed me with. I know that I am not worthy yet He still sees fit to bless me with so much.
Also, it would be a great reminder in the home for the husband to appreciate the wife, the wife to appreciate the husband, the parents to appreciate the kids, the kids to appreciate their parents and do I dare say…their siblings.

Intention. I want to live my live intentionally, without regret, making great choices and focusing on Jesus.

  141. 141

The last couple months have been really tough and I have been returning to the word hope to keep me going, so the “Hope” print would be a beautiful reminder.

  142. 142

My word for the year is “treasure”…I am focusing on treasuring things that have eternal value, not just ‘stuff’ (shopping, food) that only satisfies momentarily. I am working on treasuring my time with my kids and my husband, being in the moment. And lastly I am taking time to actually treasure myself, taking time to take care of myself mentally, physically and emotionally…I love that a single word can represent so many things!

First, this is a great giveaway…wonderful idea! My word for the last few years has been Believe. I feel so strongly about this word that my husband and I both had it tattooed on our bodies…mine is on my wrist and his is going down his arm. For me the word Believe signifies that we are enough. If we only have the courage to look inside ourselves we would see that we are unique and wonderful just the way we are. If we Believe in ourselves we can conquer and overcome obstacles in our lives and become the person we are meant to be. But, first you have to Believe :)

  145. 145

My word would be “savor.” This year I want to savor the everyday moments spent with my babies & husband. Our kids are growing up so fast & I just want to focus on savoring every minute of it!

Grateful….I need to remember to be grateful of everything and everyone in my life!

  148. 148

My 2013 word is “NOTHING”. Since 2010, my husband and I got engaged, bought a house, changed jobs, had a baby, and bought 2 vehicles. He said he gets the year off ao we can enjoy life!! So although the word sounds almost negative it’s actually the opposite! We are enjoying the things we worked very hard for! :) God Bless!

  152. 152

my basis for everything is the foundation in my life, that is my faith in God.

  153. 153

I would probably pick “breath” as a reminder to try and keep calm and not let anxiety get the best of me.

  154. 154

Pray to give praise, give thanks, and to ask for the strength I need to get through each day…to run with perseverance the race set out for me.

  155. 155

My word this year is FOCUS. I hop from idea to idea, project to project too often! I love Red Letter Words!

  156. 156

My word this year is “quality”… Last few years have been doing lots but nothing great. Focusing on what I do and doing it better :)

  157. 157

“Intentional” I want to be intentional and with purpose in my relationships, in choosing joy, living out grace, and resting in peace. Intentional and with purpose with my time and energy. Liking your word “engage” and the purpose behind that word as well!

    Love, Traci Michele

  166. 166

I like the ‘pray’ art print from the collection!

  167. 167

My word has been Believe as we wait to adopt #2, but I LOVE the Wait in this collection too. Sums it up perfectly!

  168. 168

My word would is “content” as for be content with what you have. So easy for me to look around and not be content and we have so much!

  172. 172

After thinking long and hard, I’ve decided on the word “abide.” The bible talks a lot about the power of God’s word in our lives, and the power of our own words over our lives. John 15:7 says “if you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you will ask what you will and it will be done unto you.” I want His words to be my words – His thoughts to be my thoughts. By reminding myself to abide in Him – by delighting myself in Him – I can walk in His will and His peace – and there I’ll find the desires of my heart. (And as a single, childless gal – that’s exactly where my heart should be.)

  173. 173

Intentional. I want to be intentional with my time and how I spend it with my family, friends, co workers, fellow believers etc.

  174. 174

I am trying hard to choose happiness over being right or getting things done.

  175. 175

Wait-I am waiting on something and I need to be content in the waiting.

  176. 176

Grace-it is something I want to understand and live out better this year.

  177. 177
    Melissa Davis says:

I love the “hello” and “love” together. One of my favorite CDs of all time is “Hello Love” by Chris Tomlin and of course, my favorite song is “Hello Love”! He says love is the answer and it is….Jesus commanded us to love one another…hard to do sometimes, especially when someone has hurt you…I am going through a difficult time with my oldest and find that sometimes all I can do is just love her…..on the good days as well as the bad…..those two words speak to my heart daily as a reminder of how much God loves us…and how much He wants us to love each other!

  178. 178

I would have to go with “embrace”

Lots of changes happening in life right now and I need to embrace them- not just tolerate it.

  179. 179

My word would be thrive…because I want to do more than just survive. I want to thrive joyfully in all things – and especially in my life!

  180. 180

I think it would be “joy” this year…

  181. 181

I’m going to keep my 2012 word.

I often shy away from things for fear of failing or not doing well or disappointing someone else. Having the word “embrace” in the back of my mind last year pushed me forward!

  182. 182

So hard to pick just one word . . . hmmm. It would have to be FAMILY. That word encompasses all the words that I want to embody.

  183. 183

I believe I would have to use the word “Breathe” this year. I need to remember to take time, as defines it, “to pause, as for breath; take rest.”

  184. 184

I am loving the word embrace….my daughter is getting married this year and I need to embrace ALL our moments!

  185. 185

Become – because this year I am focusing on becoming who God wants me to be as a wife and woman of God.

    These are beautiful Dee!

  186. 186
    Amy Merrill says:

I think my one word for this year would be HOPE. After a difficult year last year, and a long time of waiting, there are some big things our family is hoping for this year. And more importantly, it’s always good to be reminded of WHO we put our hope in.

    Lovely pieces!

  187. 187

PATIENCE. I am a SAHM with three boys five and under…’nuff said.

  188. 188

  191. 191

I think our’s would be “pray”, but as I type this “love” sounds so fitting as well.

  192. 192

My word IS faith. I recently left my job to become a SAHM of my two little girls. I felt and still do that this is what God wanted for our family, the process has been one of constant waiting and prayer. There are times when I don’t know how the bills will be paid but God always provides in ways I could never imagine.

  193. 193

Hope… It has always been an important word to me for many reasons. I try to surround myself with reminders of that word.

  194. 194

Mine would also be faith or pray….another stay at home mom to six children with two off to college now. I am trying to find my new ‘normal’ as all of our kids are in school and am dealing with guilty feelings for being home…but know that this is where I need to be so dinner can be ready, laundry is done, and someone is here when the kids get home from school.

Thanks for a chance to win!

  195. 195
    Rebecca TerMeer says:

“love” that is my word because my true focus is on love this love, love the day to day, love and accept everything my little ones say and do and myself and my husband. A house filled with pure love is a good house to be in!

  196. 196

“kind”, I feel like I am constantly telling my kinds to be kind and I often wish others were more kind.

  197. 197

I am currently doing a study based on the book “One Thousand Gifts,” so eucharisteo would be great. I am also trying to practice contentment so- content.

  198. 198

My word would be “patience”. Patience deal with my 2 year old, patience during my pregnancy, and patience to not borrow trouble about my cancer returning. Patience allows me to” be still and know He is God” as well as enjoy the little things in life. Living day to day in patience is knowing that God has our backs and always has a plan in mind for our lives.

  199. 199

I love the black brick theme. I would say it would be a toss up between “Breathe” and “Rest”, all wonderful things to remember as we return home to our safe, cozy unique spaces to rest and trust that the Lord is in control. And to remember to breathe and trust God’s plan.

  200. 200
    Brooke S. says:

  209. 209

I have been feeling like this is the year for “abundance”!! Practically we need financial abundance as we raise money to bring two little girls into our family from Africa. But, also just feeling the abundant love of God and functioning from a place of living every day full of joy in that knowledge. We are loved.

My word would be “choose” — I know it sounds kind of strange but my job can be very stressful but also is so rewarding. What I have struggled with is patience and strength. On my list of resolutions this year choose was the game changer — CHOOSE to be happy, CHOOSE not to be angry, CHOOSE to “kill ’em with kindness”, etc.

So when trying to decide what word I would like to see, choose is the simplest decision. It’s a reminder that how I feel and how I deal really is my choice.

  214. 214

I chose a phrase for this year: Let Go! Let God! So I guess my word would be relinquish. I need to relinquish control and let God do what He has for my life. Also, to relinquish my anxiety. Thanks for the great giveaway!

It’s good enough for God…it should be good enough for me.
Thanks for the opportunity to share.

  224. 224

I LOVE everything Dee has to offer!! My word would be: JOY. Too often, joy escapes me as “life” gets in the way. I need to remind myself over and over again!!
