happy wednesday friends!
388! three hundred eighty-eight! thats how many of you were brave enough to link up with me last week! yay for you! for some of you, being in front of the camera is easy, some of you are getting more comfortable, but for many its downright terrifying! so for those many of you who had to take a giant step outside of your comfort zone last week, congratulations!
and if you’re new to wiww, welcome! i started wiww years ago as an attempt to keep myself accountable to get dressed everyday (ex: not wearing pajamas). to do this, i took a picture of what i wore everyday, then posted those pics each wednesday. thus “what i wore wednesday” was born! and if you’re wondering, it worked! i slowly began to realize that i didn’t like photographing myself in my pj’s because i didn’t like how i looked in my pj’s. and on the days i was dressed i felt better about myself and was more productive. amazing how that works, right?
over the years, i have become more comfortable to try new things and step out of my fashion comfort zone a little at a time. i’ve added in accessories, color, and patterns that i wouldn’t have before. if you are looking for a little motivation, either to simply get dressed, or to try to push yourself a little more, join us!
{and a quick side note: i am almost at 11,000 likes on facebook! if we hit 11,000 by friday, check back saturday for a discount code on facebook at 11am PST!}
i’ve had the cute accessory on my leg for 5 1/2 years now ;)
i picked up a few new sweaters at forever 21 last week. i realized i had a bunch of thin cardigans, but very few chunky thick sweaters. i’ve been wearing this mustard-y chartreuse cardigan a ton!
sweater - forever 21 {new}
shirt – forever 21 {new}
jeans – forever 21
polka dot socks – target
shoes – nordstrom rack
i love how the gold necklace looks with the navy and the mustard!
necklace – lisa leonard designs
silas is pretty hilarious in front of the mirror sometimes! i’m so glad i caught these!
i have been looking for a cream open style sweater all winter, and finally found this one at forever 21. i wanted it a touch longer to be able to wear it with leggings, but it was pretty inexpensive and i loved everything else about it, so i got it anyway.
sweater – forever 21 {new}
shirt – forever 21
jeans – target
flats – target
same necklace again from lisa leonard designs
ring – funky vintage lovely
and i just had to pop a picture of lily in here. she got her hair cut in a stacked a-line bob again and i love it!
this is the same sweater as the last outfit, just worn differently – with my new bloom pin! the sweater has a totally different look wrapped with a pin.
sweater – forever 21 {new}
jeans – target
boots – steve madden {style: sonnya}
bloom pin – the pleated poppy
these new pins are one of a kind clusters of flowers, all together on one backing, but with 2 bar pins for extra security. these pins also look great on scarves!
black cardigan – target
top – target
jeans – forever 21 {newish}
boots – off broadway shoes {newish}
necklace – world market
this was one of those outfits that randomly came together, and i love it!
very subtle pattern mixing can be fun! a tip for a beginner: mix small patterns in similar colors. here i mixed grey & white pinstripes with grey & white tiny polka dots.
sweater – old navy
shirt – target
pants – target
shoes – nordstrom rack
necklace – ruby rose

I love love love that last outfit! how are you liking having your hair long? I miss mine somedays. It sure did make mornings easier. Hair in bun, get dressed, out the door. haha.
thanks alissa! i AM loving it long! it is so much easier! only problem is i tend to get more headaches with my hair up, but my styling time is down to about 2 minutes!

Looks like Forever 21 was good to you! I love the F21 in SLO, I think it’s one of the best F21′s I’ve ever been in (counting NY, Chicago and LA!) I wish I didn’t live 3.5 hours away :/ But when I come your way, I always stop there and firestone of course ;)

Love her a-line! So darling! Thanks for the tips, I get so nervous trying to pattern mix!
Oooh. Love the black and white floral top and the pink sweater + polkadots!
just love // kelly
thanks kelly!
Another week of lovely outfits! I love those polka dot pants. And I LOVE your daughter’s haircut – oh my gosh if my hair sat like that I’d get it cut the same way immediately! :)

Great outfits :) love your polka dot jeans …
Love each of the outfits, as per usual!! The pattern mixing is one of my faves. I tried polka dots and floral just last week. It’s such a fun way to add the surprise element and more depth to your look. Your bloom pins are gorgeous, each design is so unique! Love the way it changed the entire look of the sweater cardigan. Another week of great inspiration!!
thanks kristine! i need to try more florals mixes – thanks for the reminder!
Spotted pants- AWESOME!!
xo em
I love those polka dot pants — I have had a total crush on polka dots lately, I think I am gonna have to run out to Target and get them too! And the new pin from your shop is totally cute!

i did get the pants a little while ago, so hopefully target still has them – check the clearance section!
The polka dotted pants outfit is just the best!!!
Love your style from the East Coast to the West Coast! I have those polka dot pants! I love mixing dots with stripes. ;) Alyssa wwwbostonbee.blogspot.com and The Flea Circus
Oops, now my link works! ;) Again, love your blog and shop! Keep up the awesome work! ;)Alyssa
I like your black outfit for something different. All your looks are very well put together and adorable:) I have the same World Market necklace and love it!
I LOVE your spotted pants!!! WOW.
Jealous of Lily’s hair, sooooooo cute. Lucky girl to have that head of hair.
Her bob is darling!! Thanks for hosting, enjoy the rest of your week!

I need more big chunky sweaters. They’re hard to find to fit my petite frame. Maybe I should check out Forever21… I love that white sweater you got there too, especially pinned closed.
The outfit with the polka dot pants is DARLING.
thank you!
I love Lily’s hair cut!! It’s so cute.
I might have to check out F21′s sweater selection. :)
What a gorgeous haircut for a little girl!

I’m so glad I found your blog! I really needed that nudge to get out of the pj’s rut. It’s cold here in Kentucky and the comfort of warm, cozy pj’s while homeschooling, is a temptation I fall victim to almost every day… Thanks for the inspiration, I love your casual chic style!
it is so hard to start, but so good once you do!
I love all your outfits especially like your bloom pin. Will you have that color available ?
Never mind I see it in your shop !
I love the haircut. So Cute. And that yellow sweater looks so cozy
Love the last outfit Lindsey…the colors and patterns are so fun! And your new F21 cardigan is great. I’ve been looking for something similar in cream also. It looks great with your new pin!
LOVE Lily’s hair! also love that bloom pin – beautiful – all the outfits are great!
I adore Lily’s hair! So age appropriate (though my hair looks good with that cut too) and seems to be her personality.
Black. How often do we see you in black? Looks good. Though I’m a fan of the fun, brights too. Love that Old Navy sweater.
Thanks for setting up this weekly crew!
i so rarely wear black! i need to try working it in with colorful things, too. this outfit felt too dark for me!
New follower here! Thanks for hosting the link up! I love your blog and style! Those gray polka dot pants are adorable!!
Ashliegh <3
Stylish week! Love your kids in the pics. So real.
Great collection of outfits, thank you for sharing and hosting the party.
I could be biased as I am wearing it myself today, but isn’t yellow just the best! I love that cardigan. All your outfits look great. Thanks so much for hosting!
I love your style! Thanks for hosting! I was wondering…what do you wear for house cleaning? The same outfits? I find I default to yoga pants or pyjamas for that…So I get all dressed up for school drop-off, then the rest of the day I’m more comfy than cute. And I may or may not change back before my husband gets home.
silly girl! i don’t clean my house!
ok, seriously… i don’t clean it as often as i should! my kids actually do a lot of our daily housework and if i’m doing serious cleaning i am in much more casual, cozy clothes – either jammies, sweats or yoga pants. and then, like you, i stay in them all day!
Your little girl’s haircut is ADORABLE! That is one of my favorite looks on little girls. Although I don’t know what it says about me since that’s my haircut too! :)
i used to have the same cut as well, and lily and i matched a little too much!
I have those same grey polka dot pants & always just wear a plain mint sweater with them. I LOVE what you paired with it! SO fun! Definitely going to have to try this combo out!
ooh mint would be great with them!
Love the navy and mustard with gold too! And that last outfit perfect mix and match of everything! I need to find some polka dot pants stat! Thanks for hosting ;)
I love your style!! I’ve got some great inspiration today – love the mustard/navy combo and the pattern mixing :)
That last outfit is SO cute! I’m totally loving it. Might try a recreation sometime :)

The second outfit (looks so cozy and love the soft colors) and fourth outfit (love all the black) are my favorites. :)
LOVE the bloom pin! I have a few cardigans that would look great with one so will be ordering. :)
Wow – WIWW is really growing – congrats on it as well as your FB totals! Love your 5.5 yo accessory – too cute. Enjoy the rest of your week.
This party is really big…cant wait to visit & thanks for hosting! Your outfits are so colourful & that blooming necklace is pretty.

Ok:
1. I love, love your outfits. I have that same navy blue gingham shirt from FXXI and might need that ivory drapey sweater…
2. Your daughter’s bob is perfect.
3. Your pattern mixing is great! Kind of funny because my post/outfit today is about pattern-mixing.
4. Those brown Steve Madden boots. Wish that I needed boots, but I had to send the link to my sister :)
Is that cream sweater from Forever 21 brand new? Like you just bought it from there?! Because I am looking for one like that!!
yes! just got it last week.
your lil girls hair is soooooooo cute!! i love all your outfits, especially the mustard cardi!
You have inspired me to continue this weekly ritual. You have great style, so I’m hoping it will sharpen mine. So far it’s really been helping me see what items I could add, and I already want to take more risks. You always look beautiful, but my fav. is the pink and pokadot outfit. So hip and fresh.
Amanda.
thanks so much for the encouragement, amanda!
I LOVE Lily’s hair!!!! She is so precious! And holy cow….360 entries to the WIWW post? Remember when you would say, “Let’s try to get to 100″? LOVE it!!! Thanks for keeping this up!
Happy Wednesday!

I love the sweater remix! I’ve got a couple of sweaters that might work with. Thanks for the inspiration, Lindsey :)
Love that cream forever 21 sweater. AND how you pinned it up for a different look!! I wish I had a forever 21 nearby! So sad.
So many things to say:
1. your daughter’s haircut: adorable!
2. bloom pin: so very cool!!!! it makes a great statement. I hear it saying: I’m having the happiest day ever and no one is getting in my way!
3. my favorite outfit was the one with the world market necklace (great piece) paired so exquisitely with the target black with a wee bit of red floral print top. <3 <3 <3 !!!!
These outfits are fabulous! I love the polka dot jeans, especially since I have some just like them. :)
